"Kunle, come this way", his mother called.

"Ma, I'm coming", he answered running towards her direction.

"I heard what Ogunyemi did to your sister, how he embarrassed her and insulted her". "I'm being put to shame in my own town", she said shaking her head in pity.

Embarrassed and angry at the fact that he couldn't do anything about the situation, he bowed his head.
"I'm sorry I can't do anything", Kunle said angrily.

"There's something you can do for me", she said getting to her feet.

Glancing up to see what his mother had in plans, he moved closer towards her direction.

Taking a black nylon from her wrapper, she handed the content over to Kunle.

"What is this for?" Kunle asked in confusion.

"You're going to plant this nylon in their compound, you mustn't allow anybody to see the content of what you're holding", she ordered.

"This is too much", Kunle said widening his eyes.

"I want to teach them a lesson and you must do what I ordered you to do, you mustn't tell anyone about this, even Asake, she's too soft for this plan", she said with a smile of satisfaction.

"I don't think I can do this", Kunle said dropping the nylon in haste.

"You must do it, I'm your mother, I want the best for you", she said caressing his face with a smile plastered on her face.

"I'm scared", Kunle said sobbing.

"It's okay to be scared", she said hugging him tightly.

Looking round the compound, Kunle dug out a great amount of sand. Dropping the nylon carefully, he took one good look at the content and buried it.
Taking to his heels, Kunle got home without anyone catching him.

"How was it?" Kunle's mother asked in curiosity.

"I wasn't caught", he said with a sigh of relief.

"You're a good child, well done", she said with a grin.

"What is going to happen to them?" Kunle asked with concern.

"A lot of things", she replied.

Shocked at the sudden change of his mother, he lied about being sleepy and wanting to go to bed early.

"Goodnight", she said to him.

"Goodnight", he replied coldly.

Stretching his body on the mat, Ire muttered something under his breath as the rays of light seeped in throughthe window.

"Ire, go outside and check what's wrong with that dog". "It has been barking since morning", Abike complained from the other side of the room.

"It is because it's hungry", Ire said grumbling.

"If you make me stand up from here, you won't like yourself this morning", she shouted.

Getting to his feet, he took his shokoto and wore it. Quickly, he knotted the lace of the trouser and wore a shirt that hasn't been washed for weeks.

As he went outside, he felt something strange.

"Strange", he muttered to himself.

The trees were still, the weather was dull which was strange because the town was rarely dull. Ire noticed that the dog was nowhere to be found. He searched every nook and cranny of the compound. Still, nothing. He was confused because the dog always waited at the door step for its food.
