"Are you sure you're ready?"

Zayn looked up at Liam, chewing his bottom lip. He wasn't sure if he was ready. The two have only been dating for a two weeks now. Things were going great. Their bond grew and they couldn't get enough of each other. The now nineteen year old teen had thought it was a good idea to tell his parents about them on his birthday, but now that they've arrived in his hometown and sat in the living room with a huge party taking place, he wasn't quite so sure anymore.

"I- I don't know." He admitted, swallowing the lump that formed in his throat. He watched as Liam grabbed his hand and gently rubbed his knuckles with his thumb, giving him a soft and reassuring smile.

"We can wait." The brunet spoke up with a promising voice, bringing his hand up to gently press a soothing kiss against his skin. Zayn's heart began to beat fast at that and he couldn't help but smile.

Liam was honestly the best. He truly was in love with this boy and nothing would ever change that. He was everything he could imagine in a boyfriend; loving, kind, loyal, amazing. Zayn wouldn't know what to do without him anymore.

The two pulled apart immediately when they noticed someone walk in. They both cleared their throats, pretending like nothing happened. Zayn fiddled with his fingers nervously and chewed his bottom lip, giving his aunt a small smile as she joined the two of them.

"So, Liam," Zileh hummed and smiled at the brunet, "how's your family doing?"

"They're great, thank you for asking." Liam responded politely. "They're thinking about coming over and joining the tour for a few days." He said and smiled, rubbing at his arm.

"I would love to see them again. They're good people." Zileh chuckled and looked over at her brother when he entered the room. "Yaser." She grinned at him, holding out her arm and motioning for him to join them.

"What do you want?" Zayn's father looked at her with a weird glance, suddenly regretting he entered the room.

"Oh come on." Zileh rolled her eyes. "Stop being auch a big baby."

"Don't call me a baby."

"But you are."

"Am not!"

"Can you two stop arguing for at least five minutes?"

All four looked up when they heard Trisha's voice. Liam and Zayn looked at each other, trying to stifle their laughs.

"She started it." Yaser defended himself.

"I didn't even do anything." Zileh scoffed. "See, this is exactly why you are such a big baby."

"Oh put a sock in it, Zileh."

"You two are unbelievable." Trisha pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head, sighing. "Come on then, we're about to cut the cake for our son's birthday." She emphasized and gave her husband a look before looking over at their daughters who carried the cake in with their cousins and the rest of the family.

They all started to sing the happy birthday song, making the nineteen year old look up and watch them walk in. His lips curled into a big smile and he couldn't help but turn red.

He glanced over at Liam and smiled softly. The cake was placed in font of him on the coffee table and they all told him to make a wish. Zayn bit his bottom lip and glanced at his boyfriend before inhaling a deep breath. He blew out the candles, wishing that tonight won't end disastrous.

The family cheered loudly and clapped, Trisha hugging him and kissing his cheek, muttering how proud she was of him.

Zayn rubbed her arm and smiled, sighing deeply after a few seconds. "I need to confess something." He suddenly announced, catching everyone's attention, especially Liam's.

"What is it, sweetheart?"

All eyes were on him. Zayn's heart was suddenly pounding heavily in his chest and it felt like he couldn't breathe. His stomach churned a little and the anxiety was rushing through his body. He glanced at Liam once more. The younger guy was giving him a reassuring look, nodding his head a little.

"I'm- uh," he stumbled over his words, trying to look for a way to tell them, "it's- so, um, I- for a while now, I have been- I have been keeping something from you guys," he cleared his throat, biting his lip nervously, "because- because I was scared that you won't accept me or see me the same- the same way." He released a shaky breath, looking down at his hands.

"Honey, whatever it is, we still love you." Trisha assured her son, getting worried with where this was going.

Zayn nodded and inhaled deeply. "I'm gay." He spoke up and looked up at everyone. He interlocked his fingers with Liam's. "And I'm in a relationship with- with Liam." He could feel the brunette squeeze his hand, making him look over at him. There was a soft and proud smile on his lips.

The room fell in a complete silence for a few seconds, everyone being quiet and not sure how to react to the sudden news.

"I knew it!" Zileh suddenly squealed out of nowhere, making everyone stare at her. The woman blushed a little at that and cleared her throat, muttering an apology.

Zayn chuckled at that before looking at his father. His heart slightly dropped when he noticed the look on his face. He was about to say something, but his father left the room before he could get a word out. The boy slumped back and frowned a little. He could hear footsteps around him as well as voices but he ignored them. The only people left where his sisters, his mother and two of his cousins. Everyone else was gone.

"Sweetheart?" His mother's sweet voice reached his ears before he felt her arms wrap around him. "It's okay." She whispered softly and kissed his cheek. "We still love you. He just needs a little time."

There were tears forming in Zayn's eyes and he tried his best to hold them back, but it was no use. They started to roll down his sun-kissed cheeks. He felt shifting coming from beside him before a pair of arms wrapped around his waist.

He sniffled and wiped the tears, looking up. Liam moved closer, holding him close. "I'm very proud of you." He said softly, rubbing his sides. "You did good."

"You really did." Safaa said and grinned at them. "I knew you two would get together. We all bet on it with Zileh!" She squeaked.

"You bet on us?" Zayn narrowed his brows and looked at his aunt, sniffling.

"She's just babbling nonsense, you know your sister." Zileh rolled her eyes and ruffled Safaa's hair before glaring down at her. The little girl smiled innocently at her aunt before walking off and giggling.

"It was kinda obvious since the day you met." Doniya pointed out. "Zayn couldn't stop gushing over you and sketching you. It was adorable." She cooed, Zayn blushing at that.

"Can you guys stop?" He pleaded in a whiney voice, burying his face into his boyfriend's neck to hide the redness on his cheeks.

"I couldn't stop thinking about you." Liam suddenly spoke up with a hum. "For some reason, you were on my mind and I was too afraid to call you." He chuckled and ran his fingers through Zayn's hair.

"Good thing you did eventually." Trisha said. "We weren't allowed to have the phone for an entire week unless someone who wasn't you called us. And even then, we had a specific time to hold because you could've called any minute."

"Mum!"

"What? It's true." She laughed. Zayn was completely embarrassed by the stories his family were telling, but it did manage to cheer him up a little. He couldn't help but smile when Liam started laughing, continuing to gently massage his head and run his fingers through his hair.

From that day on, Zayn knew him and Liam were going to go through a lot. But he was willing to do anything just to be with the man he loved. Even if it meant having to go through hell.
