Y/n POV
I had been waiting for this day my whole life, a day when he would drop his guard. He tripped, keys skidding out of his hands into my cell almost soundlessly. Pocketing them, I waited for him to leave before I opened the cell door and ran for the stairs. Reaching the top, I tiptoed to the front door, only to find it locked and boarded up. How long had I been here?
A breeze swept through my unkept hair, causing me to look to a shattered window. I ran to it, pulling away the final board and jumped through. Or at least I tried to. The back of my shirt snagged on something and when I turned to untangle it, I was met with an extremely pissed off face. His eyes twitched and I swear I saw smoke blowing from his nose. What worried me most was that he didn't yell. He is only quiet when I really piss him off.
A rough hand fell on my throat as I was marched to a chair in the basement. I had been here once before and it was not pleasant. Think of it like... A nonlethal electric chair. I kicked and screamed, fighting him off me and throwing myself out the window, running for the road. And android stood there, I just hoped to Wyrd he was deviant.
I could hear my captor's thundering voice as I sprinted toward the android, who looked surprised to see a 12 year old bolting toward him. I ran behind him, shaking. I felt a hand on my head as I latched onto his waist, tears threating to spill. "Don't let him take me." I whispered, just as the crazed lunatic rounded the corner. The android looked down at me with what looked like pity in his soft eyes and his LED flashed red. When that man saw the android he instantly began panting like a dog on a hot day saying, "Oh thank Wyrd! You found my baby!" he said, stepping towards me, arms outstretched. I could tell my android friend didn't buy it and he pushed me farther behind him.
He smiled at me, telling me to stay behind him. I crumpled to the floor behind him and hid my face in my hands. I could hear yelling coming from my "father" and a soft calm tone coming from the android. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to step away from this child." he said. "Or I will be forced to call the police." I could hear sirens, looks like he already called them. More abusive yelling, then a thud. I peered up, to see the man on the floor with the android on top of him. The android, smiled up at me, his eyes gleaming with faint amusement. He got off the man and walked up, bending down to my level and hugging me. "I need to go, but I'll see you again soon, ok?" I nodded and he ran off calling behind him "My name is Markus, by the way!"
The police office was a big place. I was being interviewed by another android but spaced out until he clicked his fingers. "Earth to Y/n?" he said. "What were you saying detective?" I called him by his job name. He sighed. "I was asking who helped you take down that man." he said, seriously. I looked up and panicked. What was I going to tell him? An android deviant saved me? I shook my head. "A man. He never told me his name." I said quietly. "Human or android?" Connor asked cautiously. "Human" I said, running a hand through my, still scraggy, hair and looked him in the eyes. I didn't see the light Marcus had behind his eyes, but instead cold, calculating curiousness.
In spite of myself, I began to cry. Connor seemed to panic and got up, awkwardly trying to put his arms around my shaking form, in a sort of dysfunctional hug. I latched onto his torso and he began to stroke my hair. "It's ok, it's ok. Nothing can hurt you here." he shushed me and I calmed down. His voice wasn't as soothing as Marcus', but it was still comforting. He picked me up fully, carting me out of the investigation room and sitting down in the breakroom, still holding me in his arms.
A man, who I had come to know as Hank from our little interaction, walked in and stood there, shocked. "Good afternoon, Lieutenant." Connor said politely. "Jeez Connor, I didn't know you were good with kids." Hank replied. "No, neither did I. She just seemed overstressed and she is after all, a child. I felt the best course of action was to take her somewhere she could calm down." Connor explained, as I snuggled in closer. His jacket was surprisingly soft and I felt myself drift off into a deep sleep.
