Human Name: Miguel Ángel Gutiérrez Fernández

Gender: Male

Age: 19 Years Old

Before Statehood: After the Spanish conquered the Aztec Empire in 1521, Hernán Cortés's cousin, Juan Altamirano, was given dominion of Toluca Valley and former Aztec lands called "Mexico" (renamed from Tenochtitlan). Throughout the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, many cities and missionaries were built in the area. After the Mexican War of Independence, the State of Mexico was created by the 1824 Constitution. That same year, a portion of Edomex was carved out to create the 'federal district' of Mexico City. On a side note, parts of the state were converted to the creation of other Mexican states: Guerrero in 1852, and Hidalgo and Morelos in 1869.

Statehood: December 20, 1823 (1st)

Hair Color: Dark Golden Brown

Eye Color: Moss Green

Notable Traits: Slightly long hair. He wears glasses (mainly to distinguish himself from 'Mexico'). Almond brown skin. Typically, he wears a white buttoned shirt and a pair of brown slacks; sometimes he'll wear a sombrero and/or a poncho depending on the weather. He behaves somewhat uncomfortable around women (partially because Mexico City tends to bully him a lot). He has a chamuco (aka Mexican Pitbull) as a companion.

Favorite Foods/Drinks: Alfeñique (confection made of sugar paste), Green Chorizo, Limones Rellenos de Coco (aka Coconut Stuffed Lemons/Limes), Longaniza (spicy sausage), Mole de Olla

Favorites: Aromatic Candles, Fireworks, La Tlanchana (a legendary creature that's half woman and half snake), Piñatas, Tree of Life (sculptures)

Personality: Artistic and Meek. He goes by 'Edomex' in order to avoid getting confused for either country and capital, yet he remains under the radar to most outsiders. Previous attempts to make himself stand out usually fail with Mexico City or another state stealing the spotlight. Despite his gripes, he insists it isn't the worst thing in the world, content with a life dedicated to making handcrafts. On second thought, he wishes the capital stop ordering him around and leave him in peace.
