Human Name: Maya Octavia Paz Canek

Gender: Female

Age: 22 Years Old

Before Statehood: The Spanish first arrived at the Yucatan Peninsula on March 1, 1517. Two decades after the Spanish conquered the Aztec Empire, the Yucatán Peninsula was then conquered by the Spanish who proceeded to create its first cities in the 1540s; Mérida was founded on January 6, 1542. On September 15, 1821, Yucatán declared its independence from Spain and was incorporated to the Mexican Empire on November 2, 1821. On a side note, the Republic of Yucatán shortly became independent in 1841 before returning back to Mexico in 1848. On another note, due to internal struggles within the state, parts of the state were carved out to create the Mexican territories/states of Campeche in 1852 and Quintana Roo in 1902.

Statehood: December 23, 1823 (8th)

Hair Color: Cocoa Brown

Eye Color: Jade Green

Notable Traits: Long, wavy hair with a large curl sticking out the left side of her head (sometimes she'll have a side ponytail on the left side of her head). Light brown skin. Short in height. She wears a white, floral terno (akin to the huipil). She's quite conscious of her large forehead, having it hidden underneath her bangs.

Favorite Foods/Drinks: Cochinita Pibil (roasted pork), Habaneros, Papadzules (enchilada-like dish), Poc Chuc (meat dish), Sopes (tortilla dish)

Favorites: Astronomy, Deer, Hanal Pixan (Yucatecan 'Day of the Dead'), Maya Mythology, Taekwondo

Personality: Kind and Quiet. The descendant of the Mayan Civilization is full of knowledge and all sorts of talents; one may describe her as the perfect state. It's hard to believe this small, docile woman is capable of bloody revolts. Of course, she has matured since those violent days, now focused on becoming a reliable, big sister. But as usual, her peaceful demeanor is overlooked by the more problematic states.
