*He leaves out to find Jo after getting dressed*

*At Palm Woods Park*

Katie: This is ridiculous. I don't understand. We did everything right

Tyler: And it wasn't enough to convince your mom we're ready. We should just give up

Katie: No Tyler we can't just give up. We have to try harder

Tyler: What else can we do?

Katie: I don't know. (Sighs) It is getting to pointless to keep trying isn't it? Maybe you're right. Maybe we should just give up. She doesn't even care. I understand we're busy but even busy families have pets. It's just not fair but whatever. She doesn't care about us anymore. Let's move on with the plan. I have a new idea for it

Tyler: What is it?

*Katie whispers it in his ear*

Whoa, that's awesome. Are you sure that'll work?

Katie: It has to. You heard what she said this morning. I'm done living there

Tyler: Ok..well if you think it'll work than I do too. I'm just worried we'll get caught

Katie: Oh please stop your worrying. We've been keeping secrets all week and haven't gotten caught once. We'll be fine

Tyler: Ok

Katie: Phase one is to check up with Buddha Bob to see what progress he's made. Phase 2 is to get items we need for the clubhouse without looking to suspicious

Tyler: How are we going to do that?

Katie: Let's see how much room we have first *They leave to find Buddha Bob and see him at their secret spot* How's it going?

Buddha Bob: Very well. I've got the frame done. It's strong, sturdy and weatherproof. Just how you wanted it

Katie: It looks fantastic. So when it's done how much do you think Tyler and I can fit in there besides ourselves? Will it be big enough for beanbags and the other things we put on the blueprints?

Buddha Bob: Yes. You'll have plenty of space

Katie: Awesome

Tyler: Ok so on to phase 2 right?

Katie: Yeah, we'll make a list of what to put inside. We can do it in our cabana. I don't feel like going home right now

Buddha Bob: What happened?

Katie: My mom yelled at me this morning cuz I tried to convince her that Tyler and I are responsible enough to own a pet but she still thinks we aren't ready. She told me as long as I live under that roof I'll never own a pet

Buddha Bob: Harsh

Katie: I know right? She's being totally unreasonable. I only talked to her about it this morning cuz last night Tyler and I had a sleepover and we were all alone the apartment. We kept it clean after we finished eating, we didn't leave any nerf gun darts out, we kept the door locked and our phones on. If that's not an example of maturity and responsibility then I don't know what else is

Buddha Bob: Well I would definitely let you guys own pets

Katie: Finally someone with common sense

*She and Tyler go to their cabana by the pool*

Tyler: I want lots of fun stuff in the clubhouse

Katie: We need ways to defend it against an attack

Tyler: But it's a SECRET clubhouse. There's no reason to defend it

Katie: I know but I still think it's necessary

Tyler: Ok how are we going to do this then?

Katie: We make separate lists. That way we won't have to argue

Tyler: Good idea

*They get started on it and work for about 2 hours* After putting their notebooks in their bags they go to Palm Woods Park to play soccer*

*On a terrace at cafe. Kendall and Jo are having lunch*

Jo: Kendall are you ok? You haven't touched your food and we've been here for 15 minutes. Aren't you hungry?

Kendall: Yeah I am it's just that I'm worried about Katie. She was really upset this morning. My mom yelled at her. She called her by her full name

Jo: The full name move. That's never good. What happened?

Kendall: Last night for a few hours it was just her and Tyler in the apartment cuz they had a sleepover. When the boys and I got home with my mom. Katie and Tyler were already asleep in this adorable fort they built. This morning they explained how responsible and mature they were by not trashing the place and being alert with their phones and stuff like that but my mom wasn't convinced by her negotiation to get a pet. It got really tense and Katie left out and hasn't been back yet. I know that cuz she's always with Tyler

Jo: Awww that's so sad but it's great they were so responsible and mature. Most kids their age don't usually act like that. She's the most mature ten year old I've ever met. Well if I could give her a pet I would. I really really would

Kendall: Thanks. I guess I should eat now

Jo: Everything will be ok Kendall

Kendall: I'm not sure that's true for Katie. She really really wants a pet. I've never been too keen on the idea but now I kind of want one too. Just to experience it. Back in Minnesota kids on my hockey team would talk about their pets and I totally couldn't  relate to them. They would playfully tease me cuz they all know how my mom feels about pets. (Sighs) I don't want Katie to grow up without a pet. Every kid should grow up with some kind of animal friend. She deserves that. *Sighs into his hands*

Jo: Kendall you've got to relax

Kendall: I am relaxed

Jo: No you're not. Listen to me. It's going to be ok

Kendall: No it's not *Eats his food and they leave after paying the bill*
