Kaycee woke up in a hurry, with the feeling that she had overslept — she caught her phone on the nightstand and it was ten am.
She jumped out of bed as fast as she could. Normally she would wake up at eight in the morning to follow a routine she had with her daughter — also on that particular day she had bucked a meeting at half-past ten in the morning with a woman in charge of some decorations for parties, for Jia's one year.
Kaycee brushed her teeth as fast as she could before leaving her room, she didn't even remember about changing into something other than her pajamas, or about him at all until...
"And what it's your favorite?" She heard his conversation coming from downstairs.
As she went down the stairs she figured that he was talking to her daughter — they were sitting on the floor of her living room and all of the little girl's toys were out.
"Oh, the horse?" He said as the girl gave him one of the farm animals she had in her hands. "I like horses too."
His eyes found her at the end of the stairs. "She woke up and I didn't want to wake you, we went to bed pretty late... you left the monitor here."
"What ahead." She said about herself — her cheeks getting pinkier by the second. "Thank you, Sean, but you didn't have to."
"It's alright, she's pretty chill." He said as she sat on the floor with them, giving kisses to her daughter.
"Hi, beautiful." He smiled at her use of the nickname for the little girl. "Are you having fun?"
The little girl giggled at the kisses on her neck. "I don't know why the alarm didn't play." She said, going back to talk with Sean.
"It did, I've heard it from here." He laughed. "I was surprised you didn't wake up, you've always been a light sleeper."
"Guess I was more tired than I imagined, plus the wine." She laughed too. "I'm gonna make something for her to eat."
"You're really out of food... I gave her one of the bottles you had in your fridge." He said. "I hope it's okay, I'm sorry for doing it without telling you."
She smiled at his softness. "There's no problem, thank you, Sean."
"There's also a plate for you in the microwave, toast and scrambled eggs." He said. "And now you're literally out of food."
She looked at him, amused. "Where can I hire you?" They laughed as she went to the kitchen, giving a bite in the toast but leaving the plate in the microwave.
"Actually," she talked, going back to the living room. "do you mind watching her for like five minutes more?"
"No, but why?" He asked, still on the floor with Jia.
"This woman is coming to show me some decorations ideas for Jia's birthday and I need a shower." She said rushing.
"Don't worry about it, go ahead." He said going back to play with the little girl. "We are going to stay here playing."
"Thanks, Sean... for real." She said, leaning down and leaving a fast kiss on his cheek, before running back upstairs.
