"Mom, you should be sunbathing by the pool side while hot Italian men dressed in tight speedos bring you apple martinis." I say into the phone as I make my way down the school hallway, "Not talking to your daughter about how her day is going."

"Oh, that got too boring." Mom giggles into the phone as I sigh, "And I missed you, is that a crime?

"When your on the most luxurious honeymoon ever? Hell yes." I snort into the phone, glaring at the heads of two tiny girls who just cut in front of me.

"Oh, I wish you could be here, Hay. Italy is just beautiful." Mom gushes through the phone as I adjust it on my ear.

I cringe, "Um, no thanks. I'm well aware of what people do on their honeymoons and I don't need to know what you and David get up to in the bedroom."

"Hayden! I wasn't talking about that." My mom chides into the phone and I giggle.

"What? It's true."

"What am I going to do with you?" She sighs into the phone, slightly disappointing yet mostly amused. "How are all you're friends?"

"They're great. They're all so thankful that you invited them to the wedding and they keep saying how much fun it was." I explain to her as I turn onto the grand staircase. I grumble, realizing I have to climb stairs yet again to get to my Good Behavior class.

"I'm glad." My mother hums contently, "And Chase?"

I splutter before trying and failing to play it cool, "Chase? What about him?"

"How is he? You guys were really distant when you left and I was just wondering how that was going." She questions and I'm honestly not surprised. I had to have gotten my desire to snoop from someone.

"He's good. We're good." I clear my throat awkwardly as I shove through a group of freshman standing in the literal middle of the hall.

"Just good?"

I groan, "Mom."

"I'm sorry. I just though.....never mind. I'm glad everyone is okay." Mom says softly and I smile into the phone, "Well, I let you go. I'm in need of some more apple martinis."

"Take pictures!" I exclaim into the phone as she laughs, "I love you."

"I love you too, Hayden." My mom replies before we hang up. I slip my phone into my pocket, smiling softly as I continue my way down the packed hall.

That is, until I walk past a supply closet and an arm shoots out, wrapping a hand around my bicep and pulls me inside.

I stumble inside and he closes the door behind us.

"Seriously?" I question, dropping my bag to the ground and turning to face him. He steps closer to me and wraps his arms around my waist, "I saw you two hours ago."
