Perched on a black cushion was a ring.
It was a silver band, with five stones inlaid in the metal. In the middle was a huge clear diamond, shimmering in the light filtering through the trees overhead. On either side were black stones which had the shine and look of diamonds yet not the colour; I didn't know what they were but they were beautiful. Another diamond on each side were black as well. I noticed a carving on the inside, and read it.
I love your light and darkness alike.
I gasped in surprise. "Tim!" I exclaimed.
I heard a rustling motion and when I looked up he was on one knee, his eyes sparkling brighter than usual. "Olivia, will you accept this ring and become my wife?" He reached and pulled the ring out of the box.
I started crying, happy tears. "I have never loved anyone as much as you. You are my everything, my saving grace and the light to my day. I love you Tim and yes, I will marry you."
He slid the gorgeous ring onto my finger, both of our hands shaking. I kissed him passionately, smiling and shaking and crying all at once.
