10 Minute break

Once back from the crime scene Nikki heads off to the cutting room to sign over the body of Sarah Bray from the private ambulance company. While she is down there she gets a technician to prepare the lab ready for the mound of post-mortems she needs to get through.
Before she begins the post-mortems she heads up to the staffroom and grabs herself a cup of coffee and something to eat to keep her going.
Busy minding her own business as she waits for the kettle to boil, Jack slips into the staffroom unnoticed, he quietly walks up to Nikki and slips his hands around her waist making Nikki jump at his touch.

"Hey, it's only me!" Jack mumbles against her neck as he moves her hair out of the way of her neck. He places a kiss on Nikki's neck and he feels her relaxing into him slightly.

Nikki turns around as rests against the kitchen work surface and looks up at Jack, "So what do you want?" Nikki smiles.

"Just wanted to see how my beautiful girlfriend is" Jack smiles as he leans forward and kisses her, placing his one hand on her stomach and rubbing it slightly.

"What have you broken?" Nikki questions knowing he is sometimes like this if he has broken something at home.

Jack looks at her in shock, "How could you believe I have broken something of yours?" Jack questions frowning at Nikki. Nikki smiles and rolls her eyes at him, she couldn't be mad with him or else she would cry as her hormones recently have been raging.

"Whatever it is... it's your problem" Nikki says spinning herself back around to sort out the kettle which has just finished boiling, Jack places his hands carefully on Nikki's hips and watches her pour herself a cup of coffee.

Jack kisses her neck again once she has put the kettle back down, "Did I ever mention how beautiful you look today, something about you today" Jack smiles as he watches Nikki stir her cup of coffee.
"Really, but seriously what have you broken?" Nikki smirks.

He laughs and turns her around so she is facing him, "You're glowing, pregnant suits you" Jack smiles stroking her cheek lovingly.
"Sure, whatever" Nikki laughs as she looks down at Jack stroking her stomach again.

"You better be taking care of my son" Jack smiles.
"Jack... I'm six weeks pregnant, and how do you know I'm not having a girl again?" Nikki smiles raising her eyebrow.

"I just know these things, anyway I want a boy" Jack smiles and strokes her stomach again.
"I guess a boy would be nice but I want another girl" Nikki smiles

Jack laughs and strokes her flat stomach again, "I can't wait until the 12-week scan to see this little one" He replies and kisses Nikki's cheek keeping his hand on her stomach.

"Just another six weeks" Nikki smiles nuzzling her head into his chest. Jack places his arms around her and kisses her head, "I love you" She mumbles.

Jack smiles and cuddles her close, "I love you too" Jack mutters against her head.
Suddenly there is a cough at the door making the couple jump and break away from their loving embrace. "Shit... Thomas, Hi, how long have you been there" Jack says in a panicked tone.

"Long enough... Nikki, don't you have post-mortems to see too" Thomas says questioning the Doctor.

Nikki nods and looks at Jack nervously wondering if he had heard them talking about the pregnancy. Jack looks back at Nikki with the same expression before letting her get back to her work in the lab, leaving them both wondering how much Thomas had heard.
