[Y/N] watched her mother opened the door before her mother's eyes widened in shock. She gulped, hoping that expression meant surprised in a good way. Her mother regained herself and clamped her mouth shut. She replaced it with a huge smile and opened the door further out. "Welcome, welcome. I've heard a lot about you, you handsome young man," she explained.

[Y/N] breathed out a sigh of relief. She must've approved of him then. It felt nice to know that. She looked back down the stairs to see her mother inviting—assumingly—Hitoshi. It was him indeed. He was also in a T-shirt and shorts.

Hitoshi's purple hair leaned back and his face came into her view. He grinned at the sight of her and waved. Her heart skipped a beat as she waved back. Behind Hisothi, her mother closed the door before leading him up the stairs. As his figure steadily grew bigger and closer to her, her hands became sweatier.

When they reached her, Hisothi's soft eyes were on her. She nervously ignored the feeling she was feeling when having those eyes on her and turned to her mother. "Mother, this is Hitoshi, my friend at school," she started introducing. She anxiously turned to Hitoshi. "And Hitoshi, this is my mom."

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. [L/N]," he smoothly greeted, giving her mother a polite handshake. She looked at him in amazement. He somehow knew their last name and that her mother still uses dad's last name. That was a smart move....something she wouldn't have done. She didn't know it could grow any more, but her respect for this boy in front of her grew even more.

"I have heard how lovely a boy like you are. It's a pleasure to meet you as well," her mother responded, returning the handshake. "Come, I want to talk to you a bit more before you kids can go have some fun." She playfully winked at them at the word 'fun' and [Y/N] couldn't help but cringe a little. She had always heard about the other students complaining that their parents embarrass them about everything and now she kind of knew how they were feeling. It was sort of uncomfortable that Hitoshi heard it as well.

They sat down at the living room. "So how did you meet my girl?" her mother asked him.

"Last year I had her in a few of my classes and since she looked like such a nice girl, I wanted to be friends with her," he answered.

"Well thank you for being friends with her. It had definitely changed her life for the better," she replied.

"No, I want to thank her. She had done a lot for me and it had me become happier in life."

[Y/N] was a bit confused at the way they were talking....as if she wasn't even the room. But what Hitoshi had said about her warmed her heart a lot. She thought she had been a burden to Hitoshi this whole time, but the way he said that was happier now sounded very true.

"That sounds very sweet of you," her mother sighed happily. "I already like you a lot and I'm glad you're friends with [Y/N] and it wasn't anybody else."

The two of them spoke about other things for a little longer.

"Okay, now, I don't want to hold you two back from having fun at the beach, so would you guys like to have something to drink first?"

"I think we're okay for now, mother," [Y/N] finally spoke.

"Alright then," her mother beamed. "You better get going now then."

They got up from the couch seats and bid her mother goodbye. She walked to the front of the house with Hitoshi trailing behind her. With a burning question in her mind, she couldn't help but ask. "Are all parent and friend meetings like that?"

He chuckled at that question. "Not all, but a lot are like that. Sorry, I should've told you it was going to be like that before today."
