"Rukia?!"
Rukia gives her a confused look.
"Do I know you?"
Ichigo leans in and harshly whispers.
"Idiot! She's Orihime Inoue! She's in our class!"
Rukia immediately smiles at Orihime as she does a little curtsy.
"Well hello, Ms. Inoue. How do yo do, my dear?"
...I need to teach her how to talk.
"Huh? Oh, I'm fine, thank you." Orihime plays along as she copies Rukia.
I notice her arm bandaged up as she did.
"Is your arm okay?"
"Oh, this? It's nothing. I was just run over, that's all."
How can you say that so casually?
"Run over?!" Ichigo freaks. "By a car?!"
"Yeah. I went out to buy a drink last night and-- Bam! I've been getting run over a lot lately. Hee hee."
"No laughing! That's serious! Aren't you upset?!"
"But they didn't hit me on purpose..."
"Does Orihime get hurt a lot?" Rukia asks me.
"Almost every day."
"I daydream..." Orihime sheepishly smiles.
"Don't be so casual about it!" Ichigo scolds her.
"Really?"
"Hmm..."
I noticed a large bruise on Orihime's left leg.
"That's one big bruise."
Rukia notices it and becomes serious.
"May I take a look?"
"Sure, go ahead." Orihime answers.
Rukia kneels down and examines it as Orihime talked.
"I got this last night. It must've happened when the car hit me..."
Rukia was in deep thought.
"Rukia? What's wrong?"
"Huh? Oh, It's nothing. It just looks so painful."
"How did you know?! My leg hurts worse than my arm!"
"Really?" Ichigo asks. "Maybe it's paralyzed or something. You should go to the doctor."
Orihime looks at Ichigo, who's worrying a bit too much. She blushes as she looks away. Ichigo noticed this right away.
"Why are you blushing?"
"It's nothing! A-Anyway, I'm late. My show is going to start soon!"
Before Orihime hurried away, Ichigo got her attention.
"You gonna be okay? Want me to walk you home?"
"Huh? N-No, I'll be fine!"
"You sure?"
"Y-Yeah!"
I sigh. I push Ichigo to Orihime's side.
"Emiko?"
"Just walk her home already. Rukia and I can clean up here."
"But-"
"She's your friend, right? Make sure she stays safe."
"...Okay."
"We're friends too, Emiko." Orihime smiles.
