I see a girl sitting there under the tree and I can't help but go over. She's alone with a book in her hands, smiling. She flips the page and her laugh cartwheels across the ground to me.

"I'm June," I say. She looks up at me with zinger bright blue eyes, somehow I just know I'm going to marry her. I think I'll have to wait till we're at least seventeen to propose though.

"You hungry?" She asks and offers up half of her sandwich. I bite into it. Peanut butter.

"What are you reading?" I ask with my mouth full.

"Alice in Wonderland," she replies.

"What's it about?"

"A girl chasing a talking rabbit and falling down a rabbit hole."

"Cool." I smile.

"You wanna play noughts and crosses?"

"Yeah," I say. She beat me. She always beats me.
