It's Christmas in a few months. I've been looking for a while now, but I can't decide what to get Lavender. I just want to give her the perfect gift but I have no idea what that is.

That's when I see it. I'm at the Saturday market with my mother and amidst the bustling crowds and rich scent of fresh bread, I spot it.

A woman sits by the stall, her draping grey curls piled up high on her head.

It's perfect.

A delicate silver chain with a pendant on the end. A glass flower.

I gave it to her and told her to reach up and hold onto it whenever she was scared. I told her it would help calm her thoughts.

I told her it was magic.
