𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, Lily was hastily trying to get herself ready, as Carol's car had pulled up outside her house ten minutes ago. She was driving Lily to school that day, rather than Cindy, who had a meeting with the Principal, about her application to Harvard Law School.

Unlike Cindy, Carol had arrived at Lily's house late, and with the added minutes of Lily's equally poor time keeping, it was looking likely that the girls would miss a fair amount of first period. They had Miss Click, and Lily knew her tardiness wouldn't help her get back into the teacher's good books, after having only written her name on the test they'd been given on Wednesday.

"Screw it" She muttered, shoving her hair into a ponytail, grabbing her bag and making her way downstairs. She ran out of the house and over to Carol's car, "I'm sorry" She panted, climbing into the passenger seat, "I didn't mean to be this late. I slept through my alarm again".

"It's alright" Carol laughed, "It's already nine o'clock, so if we're gonna be late, we may as well make it worthwhile".

"That's true" Lily grinned, "But I think Miss Click's gonna kill me. She's already pissed at me for not going back to finish my test the other day".

"She's always mad at something" Carol scoffed, "Oh, and speaking of, how was your mom's reaction to the whole thing with the cops? My dad was actually laid back about it. I don't think he cared that much".

"She didn't seem too mad, but she's grounded me for a week. My dad was late home, so he doesn't know about it yet, but god knows how he's gonna react tonight".

"Good luck with that" Carol chuckled.

"He'll go ballistic, for sure" Lily grumbled, "But he's away this weekend, so at least I've got a couple more days of freedom before I'm on house arrest again".

"So, you'll come into town with me tomorrow?"

Lily nodded, "Sure, as long as you come with me to see All the Right Moves. I'll even buy your ticket" She joked.

Carol laughed, "Yeah, I'll come and watch you drool over Tom Cruise for a couple hours. How about we ask the boys if they want to come too?"

"There's a chance Steve will already be going with Nancy" Lily replied, "Nancy's mad at him for not taking Barbara's disappearance seriously, so I told him to take her to see it, to make up to her".

Carol rolled her eyes, "This whole thing with Barbara has been taken way out of proportion, don't you think? Is it that unbelievable to think she's just skipping school?"

Lily shrugged, "I dunno, I haven't really thought about it" She said, which wasn't exactly untrue. It hadn't been until she'd heard Nancy and Jonathan talking about the possibility of Barbara being alive that she had started to think something bad had happened.

It wasn't long until the girls arrived at school. As they climbed out of the car, Carol laughed, "Maybe Jonathan killed Barbara too" She said, scornfully.

Lily raised her eyebrow, "And you wonder why everyone calls you a bitch. You have such a way with words".

"Well, someone's gotta be the bitch and it can't be you. You're the hot one that everyone wants" Carol retorted.

"That's a bit over the top, but I'm flattered" Lily laughed, and the two girls strolled into their History class, nearly half an hour late. They both jumped at the sound of Miss Click's irritated voice, who seemed to be in a particularly bad mood that morning, to their dismay.
