Quickly the day bleeds into nightfall, and the sun sets on the city. The city I rule over. The people I lead.

Clarke has been gone for no more than 8 hours now, and as the minute's tick by the more worried I become. I told her to radio in an hour ago, yet the signal is silent. I stare at the radio next to the bed, waiting for it to buzz. I sigh and look away, rolling my shoulders.

It buzzes.

"Verena? Come in." Clarke's voice erupts from the static. I practically leap across my bed and snatch the radio, pressing the red button on the side and speaking as Clarke showed me.

"Clarke? Are you ok?!" I ask panicking. My concern quickly turns to annoyance. "When I say radio every 7 hours that doesn't mean one hour after!"

"Verena."

"Don't Verena me, Clarke! I was worried sick-"

"Verena."

"What?!" I shout back.

"Arkadia is not safe, I don't know how to explain it but you can't trust anyone from Arakida, do you understand?" Clarke's voice holds a chilling urgency to it. In the background, I hear the sound of movement, an engine. "Shit!" I hear her frustrated yell and I faintly hear the sound of the brakes through the static.

"Clarke, your driving is anyone else with you that could tell me what's going on?" Almost immediately after I finish I hear a feminine snarl and I hear movement. "Clarke, what's that sound?" I ask hesitantly.

"Long time no talk Verena." I hear a familiar male voice through the static. Automatically my face stretches into a smile.

"Jasper? Hey! I would ask you what's up but I'm gonna assume now isn't the time, so explain to me what happened."

"It's like they're all possessed, all controlled, an army together. They think the same do the same, it's like their machines! We have Raven, but she's acting like them too, she's not herself. She's violent and dangerous. Clarke and I don't know what to do, I found her outside Arakida. Were trying to get away from them."

"Where are you headed? I'm gonna meet you there." I say, rushing as I grab my shoulder plate and rush down the hallway, listening.

"I can't say out loud, Raven will hear."

"Clarke, Nona spek gonasleng. (Clarke, don't speak English)"

"Osir gon kofgeda." (We're going to the trading post)

"Lah?" I ask, using Niylah's nickname.

"Sha (yes)," Clarke responds.

"I will be there soon, how long do you think you have?" I ask, descending down the elevator.

"We will be there in less than an hour."

"Ok, I'm on my way," I respond. I rush out of the room, yelling to a nearby guard.

"Fetch and load a horse, there is an emergency with Clarke and I must leave at once," I command. He nods, turns and runs down the hall. I take the stairs down one flight to Gaia's new quarters, knocking five times. "Gaia it's me," I call out, urgency clear in my voice. Almost Immediately the door opens and I see Gaia.
