Charles' POV

The world stopped.

I saw it happen right in front of my eyes, Jules' family was screaming and his mother, Christine, had fainted from shock. Giada my girlfriend was hysterically crying on my shoulder.

As for me, I stayed silent. I lost my best friend and the pain was too much to handle.

He had lost control of his car and crashed with a recovery vehicle. He died immediately from his severe injuries, I couldn't talk this was too much for me.

The worst in all of this was his daughter Y/n, who was born from a mother who left her and Jules. Now that little angel had no one. Her grandparents were too aged to take care of her.

She was just two months old, so young and precious.

Giada seemed to have picked up what I was thinking about and immediately took Y/n from her stroller placing her on her chest to comfort the crying infant.

"We need to keep her babe" I nodded and hugged them both.

"Yes, we're keeping her princesse" I looked at them and prayed to God everything would be alright.

Jules' parents agreed that we could keep Y/n and we did some paperwork at the hospital.

It was so hard to see them like this, right after the accident I thought Jules' father Philipe, would have a heart attack

It was so hard to see them like this, right after the accident I thought Jules' father Philipe, would have a heart attack.

We were all in the hospital, waiting for the doctor who had to sign the death certificate. I was petrified, I was just now taking in everything but I had to be strong for Jules, Y/n and everyone else.

The months that passed by were dark and gloomy. I went back to racing but it was different. The team was so supportive, Giada was going good.

As for Y/n, she's grown up so much. We take care and give her all the love she deserves. It's like she's our daughter and we have so much affection for her.

I know Giada and I are very young but it doesn't matter we do everything in our power to make her feel well.

Y/n loves to cuddle with us, in our bed. She likes to be in the middle and snuggles in my neck every time I get home. She's a bundle of joy who enjoys running around the house with our dog, it's fun to see her this bright and smile even though she has few teeth.

She definitely lightens the mood around the house and the family.

Philipe and Christine are doing better trying to cope with the loss of their son. They often come visit Y/n and babysit her when Giada and I are overwhelmed with work.

We often take Y/n with us during race weekends and she slowly grew up around the racing world. If there's one thing that I knew is that she would always be with me and Giada no matter what.

One day we were going to have dinner at the hotel after qualifying in Spain and as we were about to go down to eat, Giada who had Y/n in her arms called me numerous times.

"Charles! Charles! Come on we're going to be late for dinner" Y/n giggled and started to babble some syllables until she said her first word.

"Cha, char, Charles !" she giggled and kept on saying my name.

It hit me so hard, I was shocked by what she had said. I was stunned, Giada's eyes were wide and we stayed like this for minutes.

I picked my sweet girl in my arms and hugged her, tears streaming down my face.

"I promise to be always there for you princesse, forever. You're ours now, you will be safe no matter what. I'll make it my mission to have you smiling all the time" I said with a hoarse voice.

After that dinner, she called me dada after Giada made a joke about it. She picked a few words from there and started speaking even though she was only one and a half.

So she grew up, becoming a stunning little girl. Always beaming and giggling, sometimes being naughty with our dog.

She soon became 3 years old and was very energetic, doing amazing in school. She had her own bedroom in our apartment with the walls painted in baby pink with a lot of toys and presents gifted by all her uncles and aunties from racing.

She's a joy, and for her young age she helps her 'mama' cooking which ends up most of the time with flour or sugar on the floor.

I love coming home from training or a race they didn't come, to find them both cuddled up on the couch watching a cartoon or some Disney movie that Y/n adores.

We usually go to sleep quite early and Y/n now sleeps in her bed but one night she didn't.

Giada and I were cuddling almost falling asleep when we heard a few sniffles coming from the door of our bedroom.

There stood our baby girl with her stuffed bunny tucked under one of her arms and her thumb on her mouth with tears brimming her eyes.

"Baby what happened ?" Giada asked worriedly while picking her up and then placing her between us.

"Me nightmare mama, dada I scarred" she explained, tears running down her small chubby cheeks.

"Aw my sweet girl, do you want to stay with us tonight ?" she nodded at my question and snuggled in Giada's warmth putting her head on her mama's chest. I wrapped my arms around them both and we slept like this for the rest of the night.

To this day there hasn't been a moment where I don't think of my best friend Jules who I miss dearly all the time.

Yet I thank god, who gifted me the sweetest angel on earth.

I will forever be grateful for her and try to be the best father figure she can have in her life. She'll never be alone that's a promise.
