"Annabeth!" Percy screamed.
There was no response.
"Annabeth! Annabeth, where are you?" his voice echoed out through the dusty haze that filled the sky.
Demigods surrounded him. Some lying injured on the ground, some clutching their loved ones, some limping away from the carnage, some sobbing as they grasped their dead siblings in their arms.
"ANNABETH!" Percy shouted, "ANNABETH!"
His hand was sprawled across his stomach, blood seeping through his finger tips. His vision was blurry, his head pounded. Percy stumbled forward, his feet heavy. Riptide was clenched in his other hand, his knuckles white from the tension. Percy sank to his knees, pain eating away at his body.
"Oh, Annabeth, please" he murmured, "Where are you? I'm looking for you, Wise Girl, I'm looking for you."
Percy took a rattling breath, his body shook.
"Annabeth" he said again, his voice faint.
The world spun. Percy put a hand out to steady himself, but he was already falling. His body hit the ground and everything went black.

Annabeth
"Percy!" Annabeth howled.
Her hand was plastered over her shoulder, where a large gash cut against her skin.
"Percy!" Annabeth screamed again, "PERCY!"
She raised her voice, shouting his name over and over again. No reply echoed back at her. Tears dribbled down her chin. Annabeth's curly blonde hair had come undone at some point of the battle and now hung heavily by her shoulders. Her tan skin had turned ashen grey. She gasped, sobbing, as she took shaky steps forward along the battlefield.
"Percy?" she asked, "Percy! Can you hear me? Percy! I'm here!"
She shouted the words to no one, hoping that they would reach the ears of her beloved.
"Percy" her voice grew fainter, "Percy."
She fell to the hard ground, landing with a moan of pain, her face pressed against the cold dirt. Annabeth dug her finger nails into the frozen soil, pulling herself forward. She thought she saw a familiar shape in the distance, but it was just another body, another dead demigod. That wasn't Percy. That couldn't be Percy. She screamed his name again, as loud as she possibly could, only the sound of her own voice echoed back to her.

Percy.
He blinked, shaking the ash from his eyes. He wasn't sure how long he has been out, but he had to keep moving. Had to keep looking for Annabeth. Then he heard a sound. The same sound that had likely roused him from his subconsciousness. He raised his head slightly, still sprawled on the ground.
"Annabeth?" Percy asked cautiously.
Then he heard it again, this time louder, clearer. It was definitely his name.
"Annabeth!" he said again, his voice dry.
"Percy!" came a reply.
"ANNABETH!" he screamed.
Percy propped himself up, getting to his feet, his whole body was shaking, the world was spinning in and out of focus. Percy saw the figure crawling towards him and his heart soared.
"ANNABETH!" He screamed.
"PERCY" Annabeth sobbed back.
He stumbled towards her, tears rolling down his cheeks. Annabeth tried to stand, tried to make her way over to her boyfriend, but she collapsed, heaving with tears. Percy fell to his knees and wrapped his arms around her body. He buried his head in her hair, while tears welled in his eyes.
"Percy..." Annabeth's voice trembled.
"Shhh" Percy whispered, holding her tighter, "I'm here, Annabeth. I'm here now. Shhh."
She ran her hand through his hair, pressing her forehead against his. Percy breathed deeply, his heart pounding.
"You're alive" Annabeth whispered.
"I'm alive" Percy agreed, "You're alive. We're alive. We're together. That's all that matters, right?"
Annabeth nodded, more tears dripping from her eyes.
"I thought I lost you" Annabeth whispered.
Percy closed his eyes, "I almost gave up. Almost let death get the better of me."
"Percy don't say that!" Annabeth cried, interrupting.
"But I didn't" Percy continued, "I didn't because of you. I can't imagine life without us, Beth. I don't know what I would do."
"I know" Annabeth nodded, her voice hoarse, "I know."
Percy gave a small smile, "As long as we're together."
Annabeth's lip trembled, but her eyes shone with relief.
"As long as we're together" she repeated.
Percy fell against her again, wrapping his arms around her protectively. The couple stayed like that for what seemed like forever. Finally, Percy pulled away.
He gave a breathless laugh, "We made it, Annabeth."
Annabeth smiled sadly, "Yes. We made it."
Percy wiped away her tears, "I won't ever leave you, Annabeth, I promise."
He crashed his mouth onto hers. She put her hand gently against his cheek. The couple broke away, their lips mere inches away from each other.
"I love you, Seaweed Brain" she whispered.
"I love you too, Wise Girl."
