Little disclaimer before I start the One Shot. In this one shot they'll be playing a game called Shinny. I don't know if shinny is a thing in America or the rest of the world but it's a great part of Canadian culture. Enjoy folks :) (its pretty much just street hockey.)

I jogged down the snowy hill, careful not to slip on ice patches. My skates bumped against my thigh, the cool metal pressing against my skin.

My stick was clutched in my hand tightly, while falling snowflakes from above clung to my finger tips.

I let out a long breath, savouring the view as it turned to misty wisps.

My helmet was pulled over my face. My long golden curls were tucked into the back of it, the foggy visor covered my features, so it was impossible to tell that I was a girl.

"Toss your stick in, dude!" Someone shouted from inside the rink, "We'll add you to the pool while you get your skates on."

There must've been 30 people there, all of them boys. Their sticks lay in the middle of the rink, ready to be separated for play.

I threw my stick over the boards.

A guy that looked around my age caught it easily in his gloved hand.

His cage was flipped open and he caught my eye. Bright green irises met my own through the heavily falling snow.

I popped my visor open and tugged off my helmet, letting my hair fall carelessly down to my shoulders.

Initial shock spread over the faces of the guys standing in the rink.

I smiled.

The guy with green eyes smirked mischievously.

"Well, are we gonna play or not? I don't have all day," I shouted to them.

The kid threw my stick into the middle of the rink. It landed in the middle of the others.

"Dude! Are you seriously gonna let her play?" shouted one guy.

Percy spun to him fast, "Why shouldn't we?"

The guy lowered his voice but I still heard him as he spoke, "Dude. She's a girl."

Percy opened his mouth to say something but I cut him off. "Don't think that means I won't be playing rough. I could kick your ass in a second and I wouldn't even break a sweat."

"Get your skates on," said the boy with green eyes, he gave me an intoxicating stare of utter respect before turning back to his friends, "Looks like we're gonna have an extra tough game today, fellows."

I rolled my eyes at his back.

He swung his head around and crossed his arms, "Something tells me this girl has played her fair share of shinny."

"You've got that right," I snorted.

Percy skated with ease towards the boards and propped himself up on his elbows, his eyes scanned my uniform until they found the piece of duck tape on my helmet that read "Chase." "Is that so, Chase?"

I glanced at his jersey and made out the stitching of "Jackson." I made my way over to the boards and mimicked his position.

"You bet, Jackson."

He pushed off gently, nodding his head in respect, "Alright, alright. Why don't you hop on the ice and show us what you've got."

I laced up my skates, tightening them angrily.

"Stupid boys," I muttered to myself.

"I hope I'm not included in that category," said a voice from behind me.
