Always

"Hey, Beth?" came a soft voice.

Annabeth looked up from her book and smiled. "What's up, Seaweed Brain?"

Percy blushed at the nickname. Annabeth found that stupidly adorable. They'd been dating for almost two years, but she had been calling him that since they first met, and he still acted nervous whenever she said it.

"Nothing much. You busy?" his eyes twinkled with a familiar light.

Annabeth couldn't resist the butterflies swirling in her stomach. "Not particularly."

He stuck a hand out. "Well come on then, Wise Girl, don't keep me waiting."

Annabeth slipped from her bunk, grasping Percy's hand in her own as he lead her out the door of the Athena Cabin.

"Where are you taking me?" Annabeth asked, bumping against his shoulder.

The sun was starting to set over Long Island Sound, casting brilliant colours over Camp Half-Blood.

Percy squeezed Annabeth's hand and electricity shot up her spine. "Surprise."

Annabeth groaned. "I don't like the sound of that."

Percy grinned. Annabeth gazed into his eyes. She was too busy staring at him to notice that her feet had hit sand.

"Stop." Percy said suddenly.

Annabeth halted, confused. And then she looked at the ground. Sprawled on a light blue picnic blanket were an assortment of photos. A picture of Annabeth, Grover, and Percy playing hacky-sack outside of a New York bus terminal. Percy and Annabeth sliding through a broken down water slide; The Tunnel of Love.

Annabeth took an uncertain step forward, smiling despite herself. She remember how embarrassed she had been that day.

She bent down on her knees, looking through the photos.

There was her and Percy, stuffed in the back of a transport bus, munching on Oreos. Another one of Annabeth and Cerberus, a red ball in her hand, a wistful look on her face.

Annabeth glanced back at Percy, who gave a nonchalant shrug, a stupid smirk spread on his lips.

"I- How? What?" She stuttered out, "None of these events were even photographed."

Annabeth gave a snort of disbelief as she picked up one of her and Percy at Circe's spa.

"Pulled a few strings with Hermes. Everything was already recorded on Hephaestus TV." Percy crossed his arms, looking incredibly pleased with himself.

"This was us during the Chariot Race during your second year. Remember?" Annabeth mumbled, grabbing another photo.

"Of course I do. Lucky you had me as your partner or we totally would have lost." Percy knelt next to Annabeth.

"You wish." Annabeth cried out.

"That day was pretty crazy wasn't it?" Percy snuggled against Annabeth.

She raised an eyebrow. "Are you referring to Thalia coming back or the fact that I kissed you on the cheek."

Percy blushed again. "Both."

Annabeth giggled, and then let out a small gasp. "Westover Hall. Gods, that dance..."

Percy groaned. "Don't remind me."

He picked up a gloomy picture. "First time we fell into the Labyrinth."

"You were sooo scared." Annabeth poked his side.

"Me?" Percy cried incredulously. "You're the one who grabbed my hand."

"You weren't complaining." Annabeth pointed out.

Percy stuck his tongue out at her.

"Geryon's Ranch." Annabeth remembered.

"Kampe. Briaries ." Percy whispered.

"Pan."

"Deadalus."

"Mt. Saint Helens."

The two demigods faced each other, small smiles slipping onto their faces.

"You exploded a whole mountain. Unbelievable." Annabeth shook her head, remembering the moment.

"And you made my heart explode seconds before. You're the unbelievable one." Percy complained. "And technically that means it's your fault."

Annabeth kissed his cheek. "Your head is full of kelp."

The two continued to reminisce over their adventures until the sun had nearly set.

"Why did you bring me hear, Percy?" Annabeth asked finally.

Percy bit his lip. "Look at the sand."

Annabeth stood, moving around the picnic blanket, until she had a clear view of what Percy was talking about. Her face slackened.

She glanced up. Percy was on his feet.

The sand read; Always.

"Percy Jackson... Are you...?" Her voice trailed off, she didn't want to assume.

Percy smiled. "As much as I would like this to be a proposal, Beth, even I'm smart enough to realize that it would only be rushing things."

Annabeth nodded, completely entranced.

Percy took a step closer to her. "Look at us, Wise Girl. We've made it. How many demigods get to say that? We've made it. We're safe. We have the rest of our lives to work on us."

Annabeth felt tears grow in her eyes. "Percy... I don't know what to say."

Percy smiled, grasping Annabeth's hands in his own. "This isn't a proposal, Wise Girl. It's a promise."

"A promise." She repeated. Annabeth had always had a hard time trusting people. She had been betrayed, left alone, abandoned. Believing promises was hard for her. But as she looked at Percy, that suddenly didn't matter anymore.

Percy cupped Annabeth's face in his hands. "You're never getting away from me. Ever again."

The words made tears flow down both teenagers cheeks.

"As... As long as we're together. That's all that matters." Annabeth whispered, smiling at the love of her life through her tears.

"Always." Percy promised.

Annabeth kissed him. When she finally pulled apart, she whispered one word. "Always."

Yuck. Not my best work, not by a long shots. Stories kind of messy, but hopefully the cuteness of Percabeth makes up for it. Anyways, sorry for not updating more. I'll try to do so more often. Hope you all like it! Don't forget to comment and vote.
