In Loving Memory of Katie *supercorp/meltie*

Chapter Four

It was two days after Katie had met her sister and she was packing her bags to go to New York where her parents are supposedly flying in tonight. Nicole and she talked a lot these past couple of days, they got to know each other better, Katie really liked Nicole's personality but she noticed it was difficult for Nicole to accept that Katie is a different person now. The younger girl kept asking if Katie remembered when they used to ride horses together, or watch movies, her first kiss and there it goes. Those type of questions didn't stop until Katie told her very clearly that she is not the sister she used to have, she has other likings, other personality, even other accent.

Nicole has also been learning a lot about Katie's diagnosis, she's is a freshman at a nursing school outside Pittsburgh and she researched all about what happened to Katie's brain. She convinced David to let Katie go with her to New York for a week after she showed all she knew about Katie's capabilities. Katie felt like a child again, but she didn't say anything because she really wanted to go on that trip.

"Knock knock." David said instead of knocking. "Nicole is waiting for you outside." he let Katie know.

"Can you help me with these?" Katie asked pointing to her small suitcase and her backpack. David carried both of them out to the living room where Nicole was sat waiting.

"Here she is." David announced and Nicole got up from the couch and hugged her big sister.

"We have to leave now; mom and dad got an early flight so they should be in New York already when we get there."

"Oh, okay." Katie turned around and hugged David. "Bye, I'll miss you."

"Call me every day. Good luck there." He kissed her forehead.

"Let's go, Katie!" Nicole said grabbing Katie's bags to be faster.

The two girls got into the uber waiting for them outside and in 20 minutes they were in the airport in line to get inside their plane. Katie couldn't stop fidgeting with her hands, she would shake them up and down close to her ear so that she could hear the movement of her fingers and that would calm her down. She was doing it without noticing but everyone around her did notice, including the lady checking the bags and IDs.

"Can you give me your documents and your tickets, please?" She asked Nicole.

"Sure." she already had them in hand so she handed the two tickets and her ID to the lady. "Katie." She grabbed her sister's hand making her stop the fidgeting.

"No." she was so inside her own mind that she was unaware of everything that was happening around her.

"I need your ID. Katie!" Nicole almost screamed at her sister for making her embarrassed in front of so many people. Katie looked at her with wide eyes. "Your ID."

"Oh, yeah." Katie reached for it in her pocket giving it to the lady who was looking at her like she was an alien, Katie noticed it, she always did. She smiled at Nicole as an apology and they got inside the plane after they got checked.

It was this kind of things that Katie was scared of showing to her real family, her flaws, her difficulties, her incapability that she didn't have before. She was scared they wouldn't know how to handle her or how to love her again, she had to admit, from what she knew about her old self, she didn't like that person at all, who can assure that her family are gonna like the new her?

After an hour and a half on the uncomfortable seats of the airplane they were finally landing in New York, Katie wanted to finish up seeing Finding Dory but Nicole insisted they get out and watch it later at home, she agreed. They rushed through the busy airport to the taxi stop, Nicole gave the address to the driver and they began they route through Katie's favorite city in the world. Everything was magical to her about that city, from the people to the different lights, to the musicals and taxis, for a split second she could swear she felt at home.
