On December 20th 2019, project group: Pandora held a fan signing event where, member and ceo of Son Music Production, Mayse Son experienced a traumatising life experience.
A male dressed in a long beige coat, black sunglasses and black mask, attacked and attempted to kidnap the idol during the fan sign event.
Seeing Mayse's scared expression, fellow member, Eunchae (Stray Kids) intervened the conflict and politely asked the male to release her friend, however failed when he pushed the JYP artist to the ground. Upon seeing this issue, member, Minhee (Black Code) also intervened, pulling the kidnapper's arm away from singer however failed.
The kidnapper was then seen dragging the singer off the stage and out the exit and was never seen after, the fan sign had to be end abruptly due to the kidnapping.
Since then, SM released an official statement regarding the issue of Mayse's kidnapping.
SM states: "Mayse has exprienced something we wished our artists to never experience ever in their careers whilst under our guide.
We highly praises her manager, Kim Si Hyun, for acting quickly after hearing our artist's cry for help. Unfortunately the kidnapper did manage to escape the premises, we are extremely thankful that Mayse isn't injured majorly.
Due to this experience, we've decided after talking with Mayse for her to be on hiatus until she is comfortable enough to return to her schedules.
During her hiatus, she will be getting treatment for a bruised wrist and be focusing on her mental health.

After the company's statement was released, fans were quick to leave positive messages on her personal sns account.
