"General , we cant hold hold this position much longer! We need reinforcements!" You could hear Rex's desperation over the comlink, but your hands were tied where they were with droids seeming to come from all directions.
"Go assist those troops ____-" Plo Koon ordered as he advanced through a wave of incoming droids with a single swing of his yellow lightsaber "Commander Wolffe and I can manage here for now!" You nodded at your former master and began to run swiftly towards Rex's location.
You could hear the battle before you saw it, and you knew you were getting closer. The terrain was rough, often littered with hidden rocks and large, vibrant underbrush that had fallen and blocked your path.
You hadn't noticed it at first, but once you had stopped to catch your breath, you heard nothing. It was silent save for the distant battle sounds originating from where you had left. A sneaking suspicion was forming in your head. Something wasn't right. The blaster fire ceased meaning that one of the sides had won, but you couldn't be sure it was the Republic.
You continued to race in the direction you had previously been going, hoping to meet Republic soldiers rather than droids. You kept your sheathed lightsaber in hand for precautionary measures.
"Rex, is everything alright? Rex, do you copy?" A chilling silence was the only response.  You could a see a slight tear in the undergrowth you had been sheltered by and you dashed toward it, desperate to find the Republic troops. You were desperately trying to cling to some hope that these men were not all dead, but that hope was beginning to fade as time was running out.
When you reached the tear in the brush, you were met with a grave sight. The vibrant plants had been pushed over and destroyed by the battle that had taken place here, and littered around the charred clearing were the bodies of men and droids alike. The men were all unidentifiable. This had been a bloody and cruel battle, and the odds had not been in favor of the Republic. You searched for survivors and for any sign of Captain Rex's distinguishable armor. The captain must have been in a hurry otherwise he wouldn't have left his brothers.
You dashed away from the abandoned battlefield, desperate to find the captain and his men. It was likely the droids had outnumbered the Republic troops, forcing them to pull back and regroup with what little men they had left.
You were so caught up in your thoughts that you hadn't noticed the measly group of injured and tired men in front of you as you turned the corner. Your sudden appearance had startled the men who were on edge. On instinct, Captain Rex turned and fired his blaster.
The intense pressure was the first thing you felt. There was no pain, just pressure. You gently placed your palms against your armored chest, trying to stem the bleeding you knew must be there.
"General!" The voices of the men faded in out out and were distorted when they reached your ears.
"Rex we're going to need a transport," you commanded with the calmest expression you could muster. You lowered yourself on the ground, gritting your teeth, the shock was beginning to wear off and the pain was growing more intense.
Your world began to shift and pitch out of proportions as you watched Captain Rex shout orders to his men, and you squeezed your eyes shut, attempting to stop the world from spinning.

Harsh infirmary lights caused your eyes to water as you opened them. The room was empty except for you, and there was a peaceful silence only interrupted by the whir and buzz of medical equipment and machines. You gently shut your eyes, trying to doze off once more.
You felt his presence before the infirmary doors were forcefully pushed against the walls, the loud bang interrupting the peacefulness of the quiet room. You jolted upright, the pain in your abdomen causing a small yelp to fall from your lips.
"Is that really how you greet your best friend after a long day?" You growled, a little irritated at his unpleasant arrival.
"How would you have preferred it, your royal highness?"
"Maybe by softly opening the door like normal people do, instead of almost knocking it off the hinges," I replied with equal sarcasm.
"I'm sorry," he lowered his head suddenly shifting moods.
"Anakin, what's wrong?" You asked gently.
"You got shot, by one of our own men! I haven't been able to see you for three days, and I haven't slept, eaten, or been able to focus. All I've been able to think about is losing you." He explained.
You managed to scoot over on the small medical bed and patted your hand in the open space, signaling him to lay beside you. The medical cot dipped down as he carefully laid down beside you. You played with his hair a little bit, "Anakin, you don't have to worry about me. I can handle myself."
He looked at you, "I know, but I still do. Especially when you go off and get yourself injured."
You chuckled, "Well, I'm lucky your captain is such a bad shot."
"I guess we're both lucky." He agreed.
After a couple minutes of silence, other than the constant beeping of monitors, you've drifted off to sleep. Anakin didn't move at first. More than anything, he wanted to stay here with you, but he and Ahsoka were being sent back out later that evening. With a sigh, he rose up from the medical bed, cautious not to wake you, in order to catch his transport. Before he left, he pressed a kiss to your cheek and whispered, "I love you, ____."
