"How did we get this far? Wasn't it a day ago that we watched the binary sunset and talked about never getting out? Wasn't it just this morning we spoke to Ben?"
"I know. It all seems so far away but yet so close. Now, it's like we've been thrown into the midst of nebula with no way out."
     "The question is, what now?"

You sit on a sand dune, watching the twin suns set over Tatooine's horizon. He's never late. As the suns begin setting you begin to become concerned. Finally, you spot the sandy-haired farm boy come running towards you.
"Sorry, ____. Uncle Owen and I got into it again." He says out of breath.
"The Academy?" you ask knowing how he has been trying to apply for about a year now, having to cancel his application for family purposes every time.
He nods, "I'm never getting out of here. Every time I apply, I get told to wait and that the day is soon coming when I can go off to the Academy. Who knows, maybe I'm stuck here forever, destined to follow in his footsteps, but I can feel that I'm not cut out for this. I'm a pilot, not a farmer. Why can't he see that?"
You lean on his shoulder after he sits down next to you, "Luke, things will change. I'm as stuck as you are. My aunt wants me to stay home until she's found someone willing to take me as a wife, but I don't think I'm ready for that at only 19. I want adventure, to write my own story, not have to follow the every command of a man with no ambition. They say it's to keep me safe, but safe from what?"
He chuckles, "The both of us are a couple of misfits, aren't we."
"That's why we're best friends, because while everyone else fits in, we don't, but we don't fit in together." You laugh as you realize how dumb that sounds.
For the rest of the sunset, the two of you sit in silence. You'd never admit it, but anyone else could see your feelings for Luke. Luke wasn't just your best friend to you; he easily was something more, but you never made it known to him out of fear of being rejected. So you tried to be content as just friends.
However, as you lay on Luke's shoulder, Luke's hear is pounding inside his chest. He's had the biggest crush on you for a while now, but he has been so afraid to venture out of the friend zone in case you weren't ready for a relationship. He knows your aunt, and he knows how much you love her but also how much she hates him. It was obvious why. She doesn't want you to marry a moisture farmer's dreamer son. You deserve better, and quite frankly, he agrees. Still, he can't help the racing of his heart whenever you are around.
When the suns set over the horizon, he looks over to you, passed out on his shoulder. He smiles, lifts you bridal style, and carries you back to your house, neighboring his own. He walks into the house and carries you to your bed. He almost leans down to press a kiss to your forehead, but he feels your aunt's eyes boring holes into the back of his head. He leaves, the middle-aged woman glaring at him the whole way.
He rushes back to his own house in time to realize one of the newly purchased droids is missing. He races up to the surface with his binocs, but can't find a trace of the missing astromech. I'll have to go looking early in the morning, before Uncle Owen realizes what's happened.

Luke rises the next morning with the first rays of the twin suns. Immediately, he grabs a quick bite for breakfast and rushes off with a golden protocol droid over to your house. He smiles knowing that you're already up by the smell of breakfast coming from the kitchen. He pops his head in and says quietly, "Wanna go on an adventure?"
Immediately, you perk up, turn off the stove, grab your poncho, and rush out to meet him. You don't care where you're going. As long as it's with him, it's an adventure. Together, the two of you jump into his speeder and take off. As the wind blows through your hair, you look over at him, "Where are we off to now?"
He hands you a pair of binocs, "Jundland Wastes. An R2 unit ran off last night and I believe he went looking for Old Ben. He claimed to belong to him. I have to find him and get him home before Uncle Owen suspects anything." Old Ben? Why would a droid come looking for him?
Threepio drives while the two of you search for the droid. "Does your droid have blue and white paint marks?" you ask.
     "Yeah, that's him." Luke says.
The three of you catch up to the astromech.
"Hey, whoa!" Like calls out to the droid as you both hop out, "Just where do you think you're going?"
The droid beeps urgently. Threepio replies, "Master Luke is your rightful owner now. We will have no more of this Obi-Wan Kenobi gibberish. And don't talk to me of your mission either. You're fortunate he doesn't blast you into a million pieces right here."
You look to Luke worriedly, Luke would never do that, right?
Luke dismisses Threepio's comment, "No, it's all right, but I think we better go."
Suddenly, Artoo beeps persistently. Luke looks to me, "Now what?"
You translate, "He says he's picking up life forms heading this way. That can only mean—"
"Sand people," he finishes, grabbing his rifle and binocs. "Come on ____, let's check it out."
"Luke, I—" you start.
"Trust me, I won't let anything happen to you. I promise." He holds out his hand. You take it and follow him up a canyon wall.
Once at the top, he hands you the binocs and points, "Over there, there's a Bantha. See it?"
"Luke, I see one," you said panicked as you hand him the binocs once more.
"That's odd. They travel in pairs. If that's one, then the other—"
"Luke! Behind you!"
"____! Run for the caves!" You start to run but turn around once to argue but he yells out, "____, go!" You run to the caves, hiding behind Artoo.
You wait a couple minutes for Luke to call out the all clear, but he never does. You see Jawas drag him in front of your cave, not realize you and the droid are inside. Suddenly, a strange noise scares them off. You don't move, until you see a hooded creature walk over to Luke's unconscious body. "Leave him alone!" you yell as you run out of the cave, into the light.
The stranger pulls back his hood, "Ah, young ____, loyal as ever. I've come to help."
You sigh in relief, "Ben, sorry. I thought you were someone else."
"Don't worry child. Let's check on Luke here."
Almost immediately, Luke sits up, rubbing his head as he comes to, "Ben?" He perks up instantly, "____?"
"I'm here, don't worry."
He looks from me to Ben, "What happened?"
"We were attacked by the Sand People, remember?" you remind him. Slowly he bowfins to remember and nod.
Ben says, "The Jundland Wastes are not to be travelled lightly. Tell me, what brings you two out this far?"
Luke points to Artoo, "This little droid. I think he's searching for his old master, but I've never seen such devotion in a droid before. He claims to be the property of an Obi-Wan Kenobi."
"Is he a relative of yours? Do you know who he's talking about?" you ask.
The older man repeats the phrase a few times before saying, "Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time."
"I think my uncle knows him. He said he was dead." Luke comments.
Ben looks slightly amused, "Oh, he's not dead. Not yet."
     "So you know him?"
"Well, of course I know him. He's me."
Well, I guess that's why Artoo ran off. They talk a little more while you look for Threepio. A moment or so later you give Luke a look of concern.
He looks around, "Where's Threepio?"
You look up at the small overlook you and Luke had been laying on before the attack. "I think I see him."
Together, you all go up to find him in pieces, "Oh Threepio. What a mess."
The sounds of the Sand People snap him back to reality. You look to the protocol droid, "Do you think you can walk?"
The droid dramatically replies, "No, go on without me. I'll only slow you down."
Luke shakes his head, "What kind of talk is that?"
"Come on," you say, "The sand people are on the move."
"Follow me. We can stay at my hut until the threat has passed," Old Ben says. You look to Luke, who nods.
"Okay, let's get out of here." With that, you all begin the trek to Ben's hut, ready to get out of the beating sun and away from the Sand People.

A/N Its been a week since I've updated, sorry. Life got a little hectic, but I'll spare you to just say one thing. It's official. My state has cancelled school for this school year. We have exams for certain classes, but that is all. I'm glad, but also kinda upset. I was hoping to have a "last day", but now it's not going to happen. Anyway, enough with that. I hope you all are staying safe. Love you all and shout out to CoraEx for this request. It's gonna be a long one.
May the Force be with you!
