For the next three days, you attempt to regather your old intel and acquire any further information that could be helpful in a case against Taris. You meet up with old clients, try recording evidence of large scale smuggling, and stay around the hangar. If you've learned anything in the past year, it's that pilots love to boast. They'll boast about the speed of their ships, their previous piloting experiences, and even discuss the payloads and where they've taken them to. Through it all, you begin to realize how much you've missed your daily dose of espionage. Maybe it will do me some good to be back with the Republic. Hopefully, Master Kenobi keeps his word.
Ever since your encounter with the Jedi, you can't seem to get him out of your head. After your years of service to the Republic and even a year out on your own, you've never met someone so captivating. How come I've never met him before. I've worked with many Jedi. Surely I'd recognize him.
The third day rolls around and you've gathered almost all of the lost evidence, including recordings of conversations, receipts of transactions, and even small samples of a payload. You place it all in a shoulder-sling bag and prepare to leave this world behind. You walk out of your apartment and glance back on last time, I'm going home.
You walk the dirty streets of Taris, kicking trash from your path as you walk to hangar bay seven, where you and Jedi Master Kenobi decided to meet. You round the last corner but notice that instead of a the warm, welcoming Jedi, you are approached by your former associates. The ring leader, a Nikto male snarls, "Wanna tell us what's in the bag?"
You scan each of their faces, searching for any indication that they may actually know the contents of your bag. "Sure," you reply cautiously, "spare parts for my ship."
A rough-looking Togruta folds his arms, unconvinced, "Going somewhere?"
They know. Instantly, you reach for the blaster, secure in its holster, firing off a few shots before racing through the dirty streets. How did they find out? Nobody knew about it except...Kenobi. You trip over a pothole you didn't see. By the time you've scrambled to your feet, you are surrounded on every side.
He betrayed me. I should've known better to trust a...
You hear a voice from above, "A Jedi?" All heads turned to the direction of the voice as a figure drops down beside you. "Dear, it looks like you were set up, but I assure you it wasn't me."
He ignites his blue saber as you point your blaster, "If not you, then who?"
We will figure that out later, first, which one's the leader?
You hear Obi-Wan's voice clear as day inside your mind, but you don't have time to question it, The light colored Nikto male.
Thank you, when I say duck, trust me, okay?
You simply nod in reply. Like lightning, Obi-Wan slices the arm of the Nikto and calls out, "Duck!"
You crouch down just in time for Obi-Wan's blue lightsaber to swing over your head and strike a Aqualish you hadn't noticed before coming from behind. While crouched, you fire on the rest of the thugs, now scurrying like rats after the death of their leader. You stand up, looking at the Jedi Master. He strokes his beard and sighs, "____, I was hoping on taking the leader alive, however, if you hadn't squared a shot on him, it is likely that this fight could've lasted longer than I would have liked."
You look at him, slightly puzzled, "Is that a thank you?"
He glances over at you, "I guess you could say that. However, it seems to me that this was a set up, but now we may not be able to determine that with the death of this Nikito."
"So it wasn't you?" you grip your blaster tighter.
"Of course not. I need the data you have, yes. However, I also need you to testify," he clarifies.
You are slightly disappointed. Oh, right. And here I was hoping he came because of... No, that's absurd.
He turns to you and smiles slightly. What's absurd?
You begin to blush, but quickly cover it up by clearing your throat and saying, "We need to get off-planet before anyone else suspects us."
The Jedi only nods before walking in the direction you previously came from. Wordlessly, the two of you make it to your ship, but something doesn't feel right. Tired of this silence, you stop and say, "General..."
He raises a hand to silence you, "Now is not the time. We need to get you to Coruscant first."
You lower your head and follow him once again up the ramp of your ship. Still in silence, you take off, make the calculations, and jump to lightspeed. At this point, you can't stand it any longer, "Obi-Wan, I need to say something."
He shrugs, "You already have, but go ahead."
"I-I know this is foolish, but Obi-Wan, I like you. You're not like any Jedi, or general, I've ever worked with. When we reach Coruscant, things will change. I'll be a soldier, another face in the wave of troopers and pilots fighting in this war, but I wanted to say before we land that, it was an honor to work side-by-side with you and, even for a little bit, to feel special. Thank you, General." You were always taught to suppress these emotions, but once you confess, you feel as if you've been somewhat freed.
To your surprise, you hear him slightly chuckle. Panic begins to run through you. Oh no. I've screwed up. He takes your hand in his and says, "You haven't screwed up, I promise. I feel the same way. Working with clones has always been interesting, but nothing has ever come close to how this mission has been with you. I believe you are force-sensitive, which is why we can communicate telepathically. However, I believe the Order might not be the best place for a phenomenal soldier like yourself." Your face begins to heat up once more. "I followed you when those thugs were chasing you because I realized that I do care for you, despite my efforts not to. When we reach Coruscant, things will indeed be different, but I can guarantee one thing will remain the same. I will always care for you." He presses a kiss to your hand and turns back to the console with a wink.
Working with him is definitely going to be interesting.

A/N Sorry it took me so long to get to this request. I just was so unsure where to go with it. I can't remember who requested it, but here you go!!
May the Force be with you!
