After a moment of hesitation, Luke pulls the helmet over his sandy blonde hair. You slightly tense as the he ignites the saber, worried about him being blasted once again. Han places a hand on your shoulder and snickers, "Now this should be good."
You don't even notice the pilot's hand resting on you, you just concentrate on Luke. You hold your breath as he deflects three blast perfectly, even with the blast shield down. He pulls the helmet off in excitement, but his face drops slightly when he sees Han's hand in your shoulder. He quickly recovers as he turns to Ben, "You know, I could almost see it that time."
You are suddenly aware of the weight on your shoulder so you give him a look and he raises his hands, "Sorry, princess."
His nickname reminds you of Obi-Wan's revelation. Your eyes grow wide, but you shake your head, He doesn't know. He meant it as a nickname. Nevertheless, you excuse yourself to the cockpit, watching as blue streaks pass you by.
What if he's right? What if it's my destiny to go to Corellia? No, my destiny is my choice. I won't go.
"Won't go where?" Luke scares her by appearing in the entryway.
You lower your head in shame but then look back up at the farmboy, "Luke, what if Ben's telling the truth about my heritage? What I supposed to do? Go to a planet I've never known and just step in? That's not who I am. I'm just a girl from Tatooine."
He walks over to you and places a hand on your shoulder. "And I'm just a boy from Tatooine." He smiles softly and takes your hand in his, "Princess or not, I-"
"What's going on in here?" Han bursts into the cockpit, ruining the moment. Luke scowls. Why can't I just have a moment with her without this moofmilker interrupting us.
You cough to compose yourself and reply to the pilot, "I just needed a moment. I've never been away from Tatooine, it's a little frightening."
Your lie seems to work, but unfortunately, it doesn't deter him. In fact, he winks and says, "Don't worry princess, you're in the best ship in the galaxy with arguably one of the best pilots."
You roll your eyes. What's up with this guy? I can't tell if there's a screw missing in his head or if he's trying to flirt.
Your gaze shifts to your best friend in the seat next to you. He sits with his arms folded, as of he were pouting. He's acting strange as well. What is wrong with everyone on this ship?
Finally, Chewbacca and Ben join the almost full cockpit. You visibly see Han's face fall, "We've come out of hyperspace into a meteor shower." The ship violently rocks back and forth as the Wookie next to him loudly voices his concerns.
Luke rises to his feet, "What's going on?" You look over to the blonde and notice how he grips onto the back of Chewbacca's chair, his knuckles beginning to turn white.
"Our position is correct, but no Alderaan." Han says.
Your gaze shifts back to the window as Luke asks, "What do you mean? Where is it?"
Han, starting to get frustrated replies, "That's what I'm trying to tell you, kid. It ain't there. It's been blown away."
"What? How?" you ask, starting to get anxious.
From the back of the cockpit, Ben speaks up, "Destroyed by the Empire."
You and Luke both make eye contact, you can see the same level of fear in his eyes. Could the Empire do something like this?
Han seems to answer your question, "The entire starfleet couldn't destroy the whole planet. It'd take a thousand ships with more firepower than I've..."
He's cut off by the sound of an approaching ship. You look to Ben, who identifies it before anyone can see it, "An Imperial fighter." Sure enough, a TIE fighter flies over the Millennium Falcon, not noticing the freighter underneath it. You sigh in relief as it passes over, but Han and Chewbacca begin to chase it.
Luke almost panics, "It followed us!"
"No. It's a short-ranged fighter," Han reassures him. "There aren't any bases around here. Where did it come from?"
Ben studies the fighter, "A fighter that size couldn't get this deep into space on it's own."
You shrug, "Maybe it was part of a convey, or something."
Luke nods, "Yeah, maybe it got separated."
"Either way, it's not gonna be around long enough to tell anybody about us." Chewbacca and Han start to gain on the lone TIE.
"Look," Luke points out of the window, "it's headed for that small moon."
I give him a look, "Luke, Alderaan has no moons."
Ben's eyes widen slightly, "Thats no moon. It's a space station."
Han rolls his eyes, "It's too big to be a space station."
Crossing his arms, Luke looks to you worriedly, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
Suddenly, the Millennium Falcon begins to be pulled towards the battle station. "Turn around. Full reverse." The Wookie lets out a cry. Han looks at his copilot, "We're caught in a tractor beam. It's pulling us in."
You look to the pilot, "Surely there's something you can do."
"Sorry, princess, there's nothing I can do. I'm at full power. I have to shut down, but they're not gonna get me without a fight," Han replies. You flinch at the nickname once more, earning a look of concern from
your best friend.
Ben looks at Han knowingly, "There are alternatives to fighting.
Han looks confused for a moment, but catches the older man's meaning. "I have an idea," Han said. He looked at you and Luke with a smirk.
