"I can't be your maid of honour, Kara."
"What? Why Lena?" Kara asked, farrowing her eyebrows.
"Because I'm in love with you. I can't help you plan a wedding when I want to be the one you marry." Lena admitted.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Kara asked.
"I didn't want to upset you or make you hate me." Lena went shy and started cowering away from the Kryptonian. "Oh god. You hate me, don't you? I should go." Lena started to make her escape.
"Lena, wait!" Kara used her speed to block Lena from leaving. "I don't hate you. I just want to know why...you could have anyone, so why fall for me?"
Lena looked up into Kara's blue eyes, "I swore to never let someone in, and there you were. You were the only person who managed to make me trust again. When I needed someone, you were always there. You gave me chance after chance, and you always defended me against everyone...even though they hated it. You're not afraid to speak your mind and you have such a big heart. I love you for the woman you are. Kara Danvers, Kara Zor-El, or Supergirl...I love all three. I also love your eyes. They make me feel safe and secure, even when you're not looking at me. They make me feel like I'm home. They let me see the parts of you no one else get to see. They let me hear everything your heart has to say, when your mouth is too afraid to say it. But most of all, I love you because you give me hope and peace...I love you because you are my Kryptonite. And I know it's not a romantic statement. But I say it because I'm pretty sure watching you get married to another is going to hurt me as bad as Kryptonite hurts you." Lena admitted.

~Flashback to earlier that morning~

Kara turned around in bed, "Hey...why do you love me? I'm just curious."
Her partner (imagine whoever you want, idc) turned around and shrugged, "I don't know, your eyes I guess. And your personality."
Kara sighed, knowing that was the best answer she was going to get.
She climbed out of bed and pulled on a pair of jeans and a button-up flannel. "I'm having breakfast with Lena."
"Okay, I'm heading to work." They kissed her forehead then watched as she walked out the door.

~Current time~

"Lena...we can't...I-"
"I know, Kara. I know it's selfish that I want you. You're the one thing in the world I can't have, the one thing in the world they have that I don't. And I hate the fact that I feel this way. And I hate the fact that I didn't tell you when I had the chance too. But you deserved to know. I needed you to know." Lena's eyes filled with tears, "Please let me go, so I can start letting you go."
"Lee-"
"Even if you wanted to say anything, you can't. So please don't. Don't look at me with sympathetic eyes. Don't give me false hope this time. I can't wish for you to be mine...I can't want you like I do. I have to let you go." Lena turned away and pushed past Kara. She ran to the elevator.
"Lena!" Kara yelled, seeing the elevator doors start closing.
"Ms Danvers." Lena said with no emotion in her voice.
