Chapter 16.5

~ Meliodas POV ~

Y/N and I were just laying there on the ground, her head on my stomach and me lying straight across the grass.

In the comfortable silence that we created, we both looked up at the sky.

Finally, Y/n said, " Hey, do you think it will always be this way?".

As I looked down at her, I saw that the flowers were being blown around her by the wind, making her look even more beautiful. As I looked at her face, she was staring at the sky with a neutral expression.

I looked at her with questioning gazes, not fully understanding what she was saying, but when she spoke again, I understood. She asked, "Are you sure we'll always be together, or will we part ways?".

Y/N was never someone I ever thought about being separated from, I could never even imagine that, the thought alone scares me even more. It is so strange that she thought this way, considering how close I am to her.

The question I spoke was, "why do you ask?".

As Y/n let out a long sigh, she smiled and asked, "will what if I leave this world?".

Taking a few seconds to grasp what she meant, I rose from my position on the floor and let her head drop into my lap.

I looked at her as if she was crazy, yelling, "What are you talking about?! Why would you die?! How can you talk about something that will never happen so soon?!".

Y/n merely lifted her head off my lap before bringing her knees close to her chest and placing her head in her hand. Sadly, she did not respond to what I said; I just want her to look me directly in the eyes and let me know that she didn't mean what she said.

I was so confused and worried about how she could think about something like that. Did she know something I didn't?

In response, I asked "Y/N, why would you start talking about that all of a sudden? you need to answer my questions!".

When she slowly opened her eyes, there was a small amount of water accumulating in the corner of her eyes. With so much sadness in her eyes and so much pain flowing through her, she whispered "What if there was something after me, and you could not stop it?".

I didn't know how to reply to that answer because I had never actually considered it or even realized there was something after her, was that why she was hiding in the forest?

As she continued to stare at me, I slowly grasped a strand of her hair in my hand and whispered, "whatever this thing is, I'm going to get rid of it! I'm not going to let you go so soon". I put a gentle kiss on that strand of hair showing her how much I care about her.

As tears fell down her cheeks, I wiped them away with my thumb. She was stunned, and her expression was heartbreaking.

All of a sudden I was tackled into a hug. And as she gripped me tightly, I could hear soft sobs coming from her mouth as she embraced me.

At the same time, while I could see that she was genuinely upset, I could also sense that she was happy: happy that I cared and happy that I would continue to love her regardless of the situation.

I then did something daring lifted her face up to my lips giving her a kissed her.

It lasted for a few moments before I pulled away and whispered to her " where I belong, is with you.... I couldn't think of being anywhere else".

Her face then turned into a red hue as she looked at me shocked but still having a loving smile on her face, she looked at me before also responding back " and I couldn't be anywhere else but beside you, wherever you go I'll follow".

I thought this was the perfect moment to tell her how I felt about her in words, so I went for it " Y/n I have to tell you something". she looked at me with her big doe eyes and they were telling me to continue " I'm in Lo-"...........

"BOOM!!!!"

I didn't even get to finish my sentence as we both heard a giant booming noise that was coming from the city.

The loud screams of people being made and cries for help are being heard, I and Y/n jump up off the ground and started sprinting towards the city.......

Oh, how I wish I told her to stay in the forest.........
