Chapter 6

They soon arrived at the Wheelers house. You could tell Billy was nervous. You continued to reassure him everything would be ok. As you got out of the car and made your way to the door Max was walking next to you but Billy was finding his feet very interesting. He slowly followed you and Max to the front door. You rang the door bell and Nancy answered the door. "Hey (Y/N), Max, .....Billy" said Nancy. When she got to saying Billy's name she was hesitant to say it. Not because she didn't like him, she grew accustom to seeing the two of you together but she was still in shock about the two of you together. You all tell her 'hi' as you make your way into the house. You see Mrs. Wheeler walk to the door to greet you. "(Y/N), Max how are you" she paused for a moment before staring at Billy "Who do we have here" she asked staring at Billy. "Mom he's taken" Nancy said well rolling her eyes. "Billy. Billy Hargrove ma'am" Billy said awkwardly.  "Nice to meet you Billy Hargrove" she said well grinning from ear to ear. "Nice to meet you as well Mrs. Wheeler" Said Billy giving a half smile. "Nancy I'm going to the grocery store I will be back later" Mrs. Wheeler said as she grabbed her purse and headed out the door. "Bye mom" Nancy yelled as her mom left.

"Hey Billy, I need to borrow (Y/N) for a few minutes. The kids are in the basement. I'm sure Max can show you where they are" Nancy said as she grabbed your wrist pulling you upstairs to her room. Billy slowly nodded his head and turned toward Max. "Follow me. Dead man walking" Max says jokingly. "That's not funny you little shit" Billy says clenching his jaw. "Woah Billy it was a joke, I thought you wanted to show them that you have changed" said Max. "I do want to show them I've changed" said Billy mumbling.

As they made it to the basement, you and Nancy made it to her bedroom. You sat on Nancy's bed as she shut her bedroom door and sat down next to you. "I need details (Y/N)" said Nancy staring at you. You sigh. "Fine. Do you remember how Billy has been staying  with me at my parents house since graduation and Max has been over at Hoppers with El?" You asked as Nancy nodded for you to continue.  "Well Billy decided to take me for a drive the other day and he was acting really weird and I couldn't figure it out. He took me to the cliff in the woods that overlooks all of hawking's. I told him that the overlook was beautiful and he told me that I was which made me blush. He then said how he has liked me practically ever since he moved here but he was afraid to tell me because of how close of friends we are and how I'm the only girl that's ever cared about him. I then began to tell him how I felt the exact same way. He asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend and obviously I said yes. After that we laid on the grass together cuddling with each other for what felt like hours. Nancy I cant help but smile. I never told anyone that I liked him because I didnt want it to get back to him and make our friendship awkward. I didnt know that he liked me" you told Nancy well finding your feet interesting. "(Y/N) I had no idea you felt this way about him. I knew he had a thing for you, it was obvious at times. As soon as the two of you became friends he stopped partying as much, he spent all of his time with you, he stopped hanging out with Tommy and Carol and at first he looked awkward and weird around you when you first started to become friends" Nancy said giving you a smile. "I remember the awkward and weird part. But I just figured it was because I brused his ego when I punched him in the jaw. But honestly I do regret punching him in the jaw especially after finding out about.....you know" You said well trying not to let a tear slip down the side of your cheek. "I know that is why I'm glad that Billy has someone like you. You keep him grounded and calm. You're his constant.  Plus it helps that he always has your place to crash at if things get to bad over there because I know your parents dont mind him staying the night." Nancy said well pulling you in for a hug. "Yea you're right Nancy. I've been thinking even before we started dating about asking Billy if he wanted to move into my parents house since he's practically there every day or so anyways. I just want him to finally be free of Neil." You said well wiping the tears off your face. "Well for starters you are both 18 so that wouldnt be an issue. But, what about Max? Neil wont hurt Max right?" Nancy asked worriedly. "No, he wont hurt Max. He knows better then to go after her, and if he tries to go after her I'll talk to either my parents about her living with us or maybe staying with Hopper and El." You said well trying to shake the thought of Neil hurting Max.  "We should probably go check on Billy. Mike is probably throwing a fit that he's here" Nancy said well trying to hold back a laugh causing you to also giggle.
