Faryn walked to her parent's house.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door.

Brian answered the door and hugged and kissed his daughter.

"I was wondering if you'd take me to get me and Amy a washing machine?" she said. "That way, it takes the strain off you and Mum 'coz me and Amy can just do our own washing."

"We don't mind doing your washing, Peanut. And Amy's. But if you two want to be a bit more independent, then I'll of course help you do that. You got any ideas as to where you'll put it?"

"Yep," Faryn replied. She showed him the photo of the space on her phone.

"Any washing machine will fit there," Brian commented with a small laugh. "Let's get going then, shall we?"

They hopped into Brian's car and drove off.

"Where's Amy then, Flower?" Brian asked as he drove.

"She chose to stay at home and tidy everything up."

"That's nice of her. Did she like her little gift?"

"Yeah, she loved it. I went to the shop and got a little gift box and Mrs Bingley wrapped it up for me."

Just then, Faryn's phone buzzed. She'd received a text from Bill.

Bill: Hey. WUU2? x (WUU2 = What u up to)

Faryn: Hey. Just going out with Dad. Wbu? x

Bill: What do u think? x

Faryn: Having sex with Em? x

Bill: Got it in 1, genius! Whatcha doing going out with ur dad? x

Faryn: Getting a washing machine for the beach house x

Bill: Cool x

"Who's that Faryn?" Brian asked.

"Bill," Faryn answered. "Asking what I'm up to."

"What did you say?"

"Going out with Dad."

"Jeez, that doesn't sound right."

"He asked me what I meant, and I said that we're going to get a washing machine for me and Amy."

"Ah, okay then."

Faryn turned on the car's radio. It was an eighties radio station. Their parents had been their age during that decade, and had brought their kids up to love eighties music. Especially Amy.

Faryn sung along to the radio the whole way there.

"We're here kiddo!"

They got out of the car in the car park. They walked hand in hand over and into the large shop.

They browsed the washing machines.

"Good morning," said a sales assistant. "Can I help you two lovebirds find anything in particular?"

"We're not a couple," Faryn said cheerfully. "Father and daughter."

"Oh, okey dokey. Would you like any help?"

"Yes please," Faryn replied. "We're looking for a washing machine to fit this space."

She pulled up the photo on her phone and showed him.

"Follow me, folks!"

The sales assistant led them to a large washing machine. It was about three feet wide, four feet tall and three feet long.

"How about this one?"

"Well, the space is about five feet wide. So, I'd say it'd fit."

"Definitely Peanut," Brian agreed. "Do you wanna get this one?"

"Yes please Dad."

"We'll take this one please, young man."

The sales assistant led them to a desk. He filled out the paper work and got Brian to sign at the bottom.

"It'll be delivered to your home tomorrow," he said. "All you'll have to do is install it."

"That's fine," said Brian. "How much for it?"

"Four hundred pounds please."

Brian handed over one thousand pounds.

"Keep the change," he said with a wink.

"Oh my god!" the sales assistant exclaimed, looking at the signature. "You're Brian Tate, the surfer!"

"Yes, I am."

"This must be young Faryn Tate then?"

"I'm Faryn Tate," Faryn confirmed.

"I'm a huge fan! I've heard about your habit of paying a lot more than the price! Can I have your autograph please?"

"Sure."

Brian wrote his signature on a bit of scrap paper and gave it to him.

"Would you as well please?" the young man asked Faryn.

"Okay," Faryn said as she wrote her signature beneath her father's.

"Thanks. I'll make sure your order becomes a priority."

"There's no need for that," Faryn said. "Really. We don't wanna jump the line."

"I insist!" the sales assistant made their order a priority. "It'll come tomorrow morning."

"Thank you," Faryn and Brian said at exactly the same time.

"No, thank you. It's an honour to meet my hero."

"It's nice to meet my fans," Brian chuckled.

They left.

They jumped back into the car and drove home.

Faryn sang along to the radio. Brian glanced at his little girl and smiled to himself.

They got to the beach house.

Brian saw Faryn in, then went home.
