Vince's home had everything, literally everything a person could ever need in their entire lifetime. He was gone before I had even woken up and somehow I was glad he was, I couldn't imagine myself facing him once more after last night.
He had left me speechless and flustered and for me, that was a first. That was the leader of the Italian Mafia.
Besides from our regular lessons, my job was to avoid him at all costs. Hopefully, I could trust my body during our lessons. All I had to do was practice self control and that was all. It wouldn't be that hard. Last night was just a warm up. I wouldn't let myself slip again, I knew I wouldn't.
Besides, he probably did not and would not want me. I was an inexperienced 18 year old girl while he was the extraordinary 23 year old leader of the Italian Mafia.
I was calm and composed today. Nothing would faze me.
I took it upon myself to explore the rest of the house after eating the spectacular breakfast Anna had prepared for me.
"How many people work here?" I asked her as I finished eating the last bits of my breakfast.
"3 including myself." She answered as she wiped the already spotless marble island.
"Isn't that too less for a house this size?" I questioned. I picked up my plate and placed it in the dishwasher.
"Ms. Castro, please, let me. You don't have to do that." She protested but I shook my head at her.
"It's fine, Anna. It's not that much and call me Rosa." I smiled while she frowned.
"Mr. Dominico won't like it. Please, in front of him, let me do the work." She seemed so weak; vulnerable as she spoke that it made me wonder just exactly what Vince had done to her for her to be afraid like that.
"You're afraid of him." I spoke the obvious.
Anna looked away from me. "Everyone is afraid of him." She whispered continuing to wipe the already clean island. Everyone was afraid of him, it was true. Anyone who spoke his name, spoke it with fear, afraid that he might be hearing them and kill them before they could mutter their endless apologies. He was a man with power that could send out a kill order for you and it was then certain that you would die. It was the reason why everyone tried so hard to please him, to remain on his good side.
I contemplated whether I should question her further about Vince but looking at the way she uncomfortably turned away from me, I decided against it. Perhaps, when she felt like she could speak to me with ease.
"You didn't answer my question." I said changing the subject as I leaned against the island. I still wore the same crop top and sweatpants as last night, this time with a grey sports bra underneath.
"I'm sorry. What was your question?" She shook her head with a small smile and turned towards me.
"Don't you think 3 people are a little too less for a house this size?" I repeated and she nodded her head at me.
"It is indeed a very large house and 3 people are less but we manage it. Mr. Dominico does not like a lot of people in his house." She answered and turned towards the middle-aged black haired worker that poured Vince and I wine last night. She washed her hands in the sink while Anna spoke. "Don't forget to pull out the parsley from the garden." She told her. The other woman nodded at Anna and smiled at me before leaving the kitchen.
"What's her name?" I asked Anna.
"Helen and the other one's name is Victoria." She answered to me and I nodded my head.
