Chapter 31

We actually planned our trip well, not until Mavy got himself in. It was planned that Theo and I will go on this Disney Cruise to celebrate his birthday but I guess, we'll celebrate it together with Mavy.

The day before Theo's birthday, we're already here and having some food in front of us while staring at the beautiful view of the sea. Kaunti lang ang nasa plato ko kaya iyong atensyon ko ay nasa kay Theo ngayon na sinusubuan ni Mavy.

Gusto  ko mang isama si Mama kaso ayaw niya dahil raw may gagawin pa. And besides, she's thinking that this will be our bonding since I've missed Theo's birthday last year.

Sadyang sumingit lang talaga si Mavy sa amin ngayon. Hindi ko alam kung sinadya niya bang kitain talaga kami noong birthday ni Mama dahil bukod sa akin at sa pamilya ko, siya lang naman ang nakakaalam ng birthday ng anak ko.

He's been there at all occasions. From Christening, first month, and then birthdays. Wala siyang pinalampas. May minsan na ngang pinagkamalang siya ang tatay kahit na hindi naman.

And he is always there to substitute me whenever I can't attend my son's birthdays. Naiisip ko nga na mabuti na rin siguro na nandito siya, makabawi man lang sa kanya sa lahat.

"I'll pay you for the tickets. Deposit ko sa bank account mo," I said as I took a sip from the glass of water beside me. Natigil siya sa ginagawa saka pinainom muna si Theo bago ako tinignan.

"Nah. Serves as a gift for Theo. Saka gusto ko naman talagang dalhin siya rito kaso nauna ka lang."

"I'll pay. I worked hard for this, for my child and then consider it as a thank you gift na rin sa'yo."

"Huwag na. You can keep it."

"Isa. Babayaran kita."

Sa huli ay hindi na siya nakipagtalo pa sa akin kaya pumayag na lang. I know his bank account so everytime that he's buying something expensive or everything that has no consent from me, I immediately deposit the money to it.

Hindi naman sa ayaw ko sa mga binibigay niya. In fact, I liked it but I don't think spoiling us with it will do. Ayoko namang masanay lagi ang anak ko sa kanya kaya minsan sinasabihan ko na rin.

I don't want my child to grow up being materialistic. Sabi ko nga parati na mas okay iyong simple lang o di kaya masanay siya sa hindi mamahaling bagay kahit na kayang-kaya kong bilhin iyon para sa kanya.

Simple things can bring so much joy and priceless emotions to you. It doesn't matter if it looks good or not as long as you give importance on it.

"You'll go abroad again after this?" tumango ako. "Where?"

"Maybe Thailand since I've got an opportunity to meet an actor there. Sama ka?"

"Huh? An actor? Mario Maurer ba? Iyon lang kilala ko sa Thailand, eh."

Umiling ako saka pinunasan ang gilid ng labi.

"Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree. In-invite niya ako. We've been communicating a lot of times already until he decided to meet me."

Mula sa walang alam na itsura ay kaagad na nagbago ang kanyang ekspresyon sa tila nawalan ng gana. I controlled my laughter and pretended that I became busy with Theo.

I just want to tease him since that actor is the main character of the series that I've watched. Sinubukan ko lang naman magbiro dahil trip ko lang siya.

"Ria? You're joking around again."

"Ano? Tss. Seryoso nga."

"Don't fool me. Your son's just beside you. Stop."
