*June 10, 2025*
Today is the last full day Ricky's here, which passes by too quickly for my liking.
He made this day completely special. He woke me up before the sun, which I was mad at him over at first, but when we got to the park, it was completely worth it. Instead of looking at it as losing sleep, I looked at it as more time I get to spend with my favorite boy.
After that, we went to IHOP and just spent an hour there talking. When we finally left, we ended up spending at least two hours at the arcade and bowling alley, laughing our heads off the entire time.
*Nearing the End of the Game*
"Nins, this is easy. It's two pins, and they are side by side."
"You know I suck at bowling." I let the ball go, and it misses only by a little bit.
"Yikes," Ricky says. "Yikes."
"Shut up," I laugh
I insisted we invite everyone else out, but Ricky said this was our time.
As the day goes on, hours feel like seconds. Before I know it the sun is setting, and we're back at the park watching it. I look at Ricky to see the same goofy smile he's had the whole day. The smile I won't get to see for a very long time.
"Whatcha looking at?" he laughs, a sweet sound.
"You," I say while also laughing.
"I'll be right back." He gets up to go back to his car. I watch as he comes running back with his guitar.
"I see you came ready," I giggle.
"I may have prepared a little something."
He sits down and starts strumming, and I can just feel the tears forming.
