About halfway through the tour, they reach Chicago. This show was gonna be special. Keith had something up his sleeve that he'd been planning since the end of the first show. He just had to figure out when it was a good time. Luckily, he got a moment to slip away and talk to Pidge about this glorious plan of his.

"Don't you think it's a little too obvious?" Pidge asked.

"I mean, yeah, kind of," Keith shrugged, looking back around the corner from where they came, "But I wanna do something special for him."

"Alright, I'll see what I can do," Pidge sighed, looking at her clipboard which had a copy of the original schedule, "But please, don't do anything stupid."

"I won't,"

"Promise?"

"I promise."

And just like that, the plan was set up. Speaking of the plan, it was about to go into action in about 5 hours. Lance and Keith were up on stage practicing the minimal choreography, making sure they were ready.

"So, have you figured out what you're wearing tonight?" Keith asks.

Lance shrugs slightly through the motion, "No... Do you have something you want me to wear?"

"Nah," Keith stops and walks to the edge of the stage, grabbing his water bottle. He takes a quick sip and turns to his boyfriend, "I just wanna match."

"How are we gonna do that?" Lance asks, still going through the motions of the dance, "I don't know if you noticed, but like, we're polar opposites."

Keith sets the bottle down after he takes another sip, "Dunno, maybe we just do like dressy casual."

Lance stops and thinks about it for a moment, "I guess that could work."

About an hour before the concert, the two are still scrabbling to grab stuff for their outfits. They really should've thought this out.

"I just had a random thought," Lance states.

"What would that be?" Keith asks, looking through his container of jewelry, looking for his favorite necklace.

"MAYBE, just maybe, we should've done this earlier."

"That would've probably been the optimal decision-" Keith furrows his brow, "Hey,, babe, have you seen that necklace you bought for me back in LA?"

"Which one?"

"The heart one," Keith looks back to Lance who is drawing a blank, "The little metal one-.. From Saint Laurent?"

"Oh! That one! Uuuuuuhhh..." Lance looks around the room, moving things before finding it under some bracelets, "Here it is."

He picks it up and hands it to Keith.

"Can you just put on me?" Keith says, lifting his hair, "Less to carry."

"Alright" Lance takes the necklace back and puts it on, Keith.

"Thanks," Keith smiles, "Now are we ready?"

"Almost," Lance scans the room for a moment.

"Whatcha looking for?"

Lance looks around the container of jewelry and sees the box his watch came in. Yes, he brought his super expense watch with. Why? Because his boyfriend bought it for him even though he didn't need to.

"Okay, we're good. Let's go before Pidge and Hunk chew us out." Lance says.

~~~
The time had finally come. Mid concert the pair grab their water bottles and look out to the crowd, Keith taking the lead.
"Alright everyone," He takes a quick sip of water, "We have a surprise tonight."
The crowd goes wild. Lance asks over the crowd, "We do?"
"Yeah," Keith turns back, "Well, I have a surprise."
The crowd continues as Lance asks, "You do?"
"Yes, I do." Keith takes another sip of his water before setting it down, "Now, let me get to the point 'cause I'm sure you all are oh so very curious."
The crowd murmurs to each other as Keith continues, "I've been planning this treat for a while now."
He walks over to the band and whispers something to them before heading back to the front of the stage. He smiles, "Alright... So, I have to put a pause on our regularly scheduled program for a little shout out if you will," Lance gives Keith a look as the Korean continues, "I uh, would like to sing a song that's a bit outta character for me, but I'm sure you all will enjoy it-"
Lance turns his mic on, "Get on with it, mullet."
Keith glares back at his lover, "Oh hush. Anyways, this song goes out to a very special someone."
He gives the band the queue and the music starts up.
"Maybe it's the way you say my name
Maybe it's the way you play your game
But it's so good, I've never known anybody like you
But it's so good, I've never dreamed of nobody like you."
Keith scans the crowd not trying to be obvious.
"And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime
And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine."
"'Cause I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
And I see forever in your eyes
I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
Wishing on dandelions all of the time
Praying to God that one day you'll be mine
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time."
He sneaks a glance at Lance who is trying to keep it together. He knows that the other knows exactly what's happening. Lance is being serenaded in front of a thousand fans if not more, and no one besides him and Keith know.
"I think that you are the one for me
Cause it gets so hard to breathe"
Keith's glances are turning into stares. He's really trying not to be obvious, but that's proving to be difficult.
"When you're looking at me
I've never felt so alive and free
When you're looking at me
I've never felt so happy"
"And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime
And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine"
"Cause I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
And I see forever in your eyes
I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
Wishing on dandelions all of the time
Praying to God that one day you'll be mine
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time"
Keith's right-hand grips onto the heart pendent on his necklace as he sings. He tries to ground himself by focusing more on the crowd and lyrics rather than who this is for.
"Dandelion, into the wind you go
Won't you let my darling know
Dandelion, into the wind you go
Won't you let my darling know that"
"I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
And I see forever in your eyes
I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
Wishing on dandelions all of the time
Praying to God that one day you'll be mine
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time"
He smiles and turns back to Lance as he finishes the song, no longer caring about being subtle, "I'm in a field of dandelions. Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine"
