³⁷ Rookie Routine

The room stood still as you stared into the mirror, the humidity causing your reflection to fog up.


"That's time for today! Make sure you have your pieces ready for evaluations at the end of the week~" Your dance teacher announces before dismissing practice.



The trainees dispersed; some grabbing bottles of water as others plopped their bodies to the ground.

You watched from afar, more out of breath than usual.
nothing to worry about..



Your vibrating phone grabbed your attention, leading you to exit the room and into the hall.

"Jan! I'm so happy to hear from you." Leaning against the wall, you titled your head towards the ceiling lights.



It's been quite some time since you've spoken to each other, you assume due to time zones.

However your reunion with old friends reminded you of Janice.




"I've missed you too," She chuckles. "Is this a good time?"

"Y/N~" Someone suddenly called out.



As you turned, three energetic and lively faces peeked their heads through the door frame.

Soon and a few other trainees sought you out whenever they were in need of advice or just a friend.
they're like little ducklings..


"Can you lead an additional practice today? We want to go over our solo pieces!" Soon asked.

Your hand muffled the speaker over the phone,
"Yeah of course! But take a short break first, we've been practicing for hours."



After a few head nods and 'thank you's', the girls left and you resumed your phone call.




"I'm still surprised your Korean bounced back so quickly." Jan laughed.

"Well yeah, I've been living here for a while.."

and living with the TXT boys has definitely helped..



"Anyway, I'm just taking a break from practice right now.. how are things for you?"
Although you didn't want to push it, you were still in the dark about Janice's trainee status.

Your curious and stubborn heart wouldn't let go of it.


"Ah..the life of a trainee.. I'm taking some summer classes to get a head start on next year."

"Look at you being productive~" She chuckled dryly at your teasing.

The curiosity within you was never enough to formulate into reality. Small details like this were often pushed aside for another time.



The cool breeze of the air vents filled the halls as you sat on the tile floor. Muffled voices pierced through the walls as you continued your conversation.



"How's your tattoo by the way? Any luck on finding that special someone?"

You paused after hearing the sudden question.



Head pressed against the wall, your eyes fixated on the white light that shone from above.

There was a sort of.. numbness.
All the triggers that once overwhelmed your senses: the ringing, the colored vision, the tingling.

All that seemed so foreign.


A heavy sigh escaped your lips as you started,
