December 1977

The Library

Things had gotten quieter since James and Lily started seeing each other.

They weren't boyfriend and girlfriend, not yet.

Thea sat in the library, alone. Not that she minded. She liked the peace.

But, being alone became a new norm for her, except if Sirius was around.

He clunked his bag down on the table that she was sitting at.

"Hello there," she said with a smile.

"Hi," he said gruffly.

"What's the matter?" she asked.

"James said no to doing a prank," he blurted.

Thea looked up momentarily in confusion.

"That doesn't sound like him," she replied.

"Yeah, well it sounds like him now," Sirius grumbled.

"Maybe it's for the best," Thea said quietly.

"For the best? Are you mental?" Sirius growled.

"I don't believe so," she said as she continued to work.

Sirius crossed his arms and huffed like a child.

"What're you working on?" he asked.

"Transfiguration," she replied.

"Good ole Minnie," he said with a chuckle.

"She also happens to be a very tough grader, so I'd like to make this as perfect as possible," Thea said, looking up at him with a slight smile and a chuckle.

"Might as well do work. I haven't turned in an essay to Flitwick for ages," he murmured as he pulled out parchment and a quill.

Thea felt herself smile as she continued to write.

"If anyone asks, you wrote it," Sirius whispered to her.

"We wouldn't want to ruin your reputation now would we?" Thea whispered back, amused.

"Definitely not," he whispered with a chuckle.
