y/n stood at the front door of the black household and tapped her foot impatiently before the door creaked open,
revealing a tired billy.
"y/n,"
he greeted with a weak wave.
"is jacob here?"
"he's uh...he's asleep."
"can i see him?"
"i don't think-"
"please,"
she breathed out with a quiver to her tone.
billy's eyes widened for a split second before he hesitantly let her inside.
y/n found her way to jacob's bedroom where the only light pouring in was through the window.
he laid on his stomach with his limbs spread out,
"thought i heard you,"
he mumbled through the sleep in his tone,
his eyes fluttering open.
"you've been ignoring me."
was all y/n could muster out.
jacob sat up and on the edge of the bed,
his elbows on his knees,
then let out a sigh.
"y/n..."
he rubbed his eyes then looked up at her,
noticing the welling tears in her eyes.
"what's wrong?"
her bottom lip quivered,
the knot in her throat much too thick for words.
jacob stood to his feet and held her shoulders,
watching the tears fall.
"did-did i do this?"
y/n hesitantly nodded,
trying to find the words to explain how much she needed her best friend.
the boy let out a soft breath and pulled her to his chest where he held a hand to the back of her head in support.
y/n let out a weak cry into his sweltering chest,
"i'm sorry. i'm so sorry, y/n. i-i didn't want to ignore you, i swear."
jacob's hand fell down her back where he caressed it softly,
"oh, y/n honey, i'm sorry."
she looked up at him with painful watery eyes,
"why did you leave me?"
she whispered.
even though y/n stood here in his arms,
the past four weeks of his absence and continuous dodging of her hurt all the same.
"i'm sorry,"
he returned at the same level,
the guilt dripping with each new word.
his calloused but comforting hand found its way to her cheek,
where he held it and traced her facial features almost as if he was trying to memorize them.
his thumb traced her cupid's bow when he spoke again,
"can you forgive me?"
"tell me why."
"i-i can't."
"can't or won't?"
she asked and stepped away from his grasp from irritation.
"y/n...i can't. please, don't be upset."
"oh, no you're right! just ignore me for almost a month and then act like i don't exist. yeah, no need to be upset."
he sighed and reached a hand out for her own,
lacing their fingers together.
she craved jacob's touch,
as much as she might hate to admit it right now,
and let their hands remain connected.
"i missed you,"
he breathed out as he rested his forehead on hers.
she inhaled his earthy scent and nodded,
"i missed you."
jacob's eyes were able to bare down into y/n's soul,
leaving her to feel vulnerable but secure.
he brought her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles slowly,
"are you okay?"
"no..."
he nodded and pulled her to his bed,
where he held her close.
"are you sick? you're burning up,"
she mumbled against his chest that burned against her cheek.
"i'm fine,"
he chuckled and let his hands soothe her.
y/n looked up at jacob and ran a finger down his jawline.
y/n and jacob had always been the best of friends.
but as they laid in the bed as one,
their bodies closer than they had ever been before,
she felt the sudden urge to connect their bodies in more ways than one.
and as her finger stopped at his chin,
jacob closed the space between them.
the kiss was sweet and passionate.
jacob was sure to prove his apology to her and show her just how much he loved her.
his hands tangled in her hair as their souls slowly became coiled as one.
as as they broke apart,
they were left gasping for air.
his fingers fanned her throat while they stared into each other's eyes.
"tell me,"
she whispered.
"i can't, y/n, i can't."
his breathing ghosted her lips.
"guess."
she lifted her head with a soft laugh,
"what?"
"guess. if you-if you guess it then maybe this won't be so hard."
y/n took in a deep breath then shrugged.
"you know this. we used to talk about it all the time as kids! we would-we..."
he trailed off then let the loud groan fill the air.
"you're not serious, are you? a-a werewolf?"
jacob stood silent at the word then finally looked back down at her,
meeting her skeptical look with a nod.
she gasped.
"oh my...seriously?"
jacob released her from his embrace and turned his back to her,
facing the window that glossed his face in moonlight.
y/n could feel the sudden tension and knew jacob was embarrassed-or better yet scared-of himself.
she wrapped an arm around his torso and leaned her head into his neck,
her frontside pressing against his warm back.
"why are you worried?"
"i don't want you to think i'm some-some monster. i don't wanna hurt you."
y/n kissed his temple,
"i don't. it's pretty cool, if it's any consolation. and so what if you rough me up a bit? remember that time you pushed me into a rock and i bled for hours? still got the scar, look,"
y/n giggled and showed him her elbow with a scar lighter than the rest of her skin.
but his face remained serious.
"it's not like that anymore. i could seriously hurt you, y/n. what don't you get?"
y/n inhaled the air and felt the warmth and his natural scent settle within her lungs.
she ran a hand through his new cut hair before she spoke,
"jacob..i love you. and i'm not running away now. i'm willing to take whatever risks come with being with you."
he nodded gratefully and leaned his head into her chest.
"i love you too."
"can i say something?"
he nodded,
giving her permission to continue.
"you being a werewolf doesn't surprise me. you always resembled a dog of some sort."
the pair erupted into loud laughs at her joke before he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close.
"it's getting late..."
she mumbled,
sending the vibrations down his body.
"stay,"
he whispered against the top of her head and ran his fingertips slowly down her thigh.
y/n smiled and buried her head in his chest as far as it would go,
and soon drifted off in the arms of the boy she loved most.
