y/n laid her head on the cold desk before her,
letting the quick but silent sigh slip past her lips.
highschool.
completely unbearable.
she thought as the class before her drowned out.
she closed her eyes and felt her mind slip into a world anew;
a world that resembled nothing of the hellhole she was currently in.
until the sudden nudge of someone's elbow into her rib ripped her away from her lovely dream,
forcing her back into her harsh reality.
she turned to see the bastard who did it and locked eyes with jasper hale.
her sudden angry thoughts had become tranquil and ebbed away.
she continued to hold his gaze and felt the butterflies flood her ribcage.
"you were snoring,"
he whispered with a grin,
turning his attention back to the front.
she let out a dry laugh and shook her head,
"thank you."
he nodded in response,
leaving y/n to wish he'd face her again so she could lose herself in his beautiful eyes.
stifling a yawn,
she forced her eyes to focus on the dull teacher before her.

jasper felt his throat grow painful with the burning,
but sitting next to y/n in such a comfortable vicinity was worth it.
he stopped breathing for the time being and closed his eyes,
trying to soothe the throbbing in his throat.
y/n's scent was so potent and so tempting,
but he refused to react in such a monstrous way to the one girl he had grown to care for.
it had been two weeks since jasper laid eyes on y/n.
and in those two weeks he did everything possible to remain close to her.
to protect her.
to enjoy her presence.
he felt the faint nudge in his body and opened his eyes quickly,
turning them to y/n who was bright with a smile.
"you were snoring,"
she joked.
jasper laughed and inhaled a breathe that consisted of y/n's aromatic blood and the rest of the classes mundane scents.
nothing or no one could compare to y/n.
jasper admired her.
her beauty,
her kind smile,
the way her eyebrows furrowed when she worried,
her selfless acts,
and best of all?
her hatred for the boring math class that mirrored his own dislike for it.
they both excelled in history,
despite the irony,
and he fell for her even more everyday.

class came to an end and y/n felt a sudden twinge of disappointment prod her heart.
jasper felt the change in mood and turned a curious eye to her,
raising an eyebrow.
"what?"
she questioned with a soft laugh that would be sure to make his once beating heart flutter.
"you okay?"
"oh, yeah. i'm alright. how-how are you?"
y/n's body relaxed as their eyes met again,
basking in the relief that washed over her.
"i'm...fine, thank you."
y/n nodded,
though she wanted nothing more than to keep this conversation.
she wasn't sure what it was about jasper hale that made her feel serene and secure.
she had known all about him,
after all who didn't know them?
but as their eyes once locked and continued to remain still she couldn't help but feel her heart run wild in her chest.

jasper heard the sudden uptempo in her heartbeat,
making him grin yet again.
"i'll see you around."
y/n nodded and watched him leave the room in quite a daze.
she was sure her mouth was hanging open and drool was falling out.
she laughed quietly to herself at the thought and collected herself,
leaving the class to itself where the memories of jasper hale would remain peacefully.

peacefully was a word y/n loved to use and hear..
a lot.
although her life was quite the opposite of peaceful.
loud,
rambunctious,
stressful,
and constantly face to face with her own anxieties that she couldn't escape.
and as she laid in bed that night,
staring at the ceiling while the sleep began to pull her under,
and wondered if maybe that's why she was so attracted to jasper.
he offered peace and refuge from the world around her,
a desperate need for y/n.
she relaxed into the mattress beneath her and slipped into the dreams.

jasper sat himself on the edge of y/n's bed,
watching her forehead crease at the dream she was stuck in.
he smiled to himself and relaxed.
she was safe.
she was okay.
he got to his feet to leave her be,
only stopping when she muttered the words,
"jasper."
the boy stood still in shock.
had she seen him?
her room was so dark,
he could only hope she'd blame it on her sleepy eyes.
but jasper inspected closer and realized she was still fast asleep.
her once worried look faded away and became replaced with a gentle expression.
"jasper.."
she breathed out,
shifting her head to the side.
jasper watched in amazement.
he moved the piece of hair that fell into her face and tucked it behind her ear,
the warmth of her skin chilling his already chilled body.
jasper tried so hard to keep away from her in fear of hurting her.
but after tonight,
jasper knew it would become impossible.
he finally peeled himself of the current position he was in and made his way home,
the smile never leaving his lips.
y/n was his,
just as much as he was y/n's.
the attraction was too impossible to ignore.
it was practically fate.
***
y/n sat in the class the next day,
attentive and wide awake.
her dream from the night before had caused a sudden surge of new feelings for her peer.
and it differed from the usual attraction she felt towards him.
she admitted from time to time he was cute,
but this was something new.
she felt drawn to him.
almost as if they were meant to be.
the idea was deemed impossible to y/n.
but she was damn sure to try.

jasper took his seat next to y/n and relished in the fact her heart began to race at his company.
she, too, felt the attraction.
how couldn't she?
jasper turned his head to face her and smiled at their quickness to gaze into each other's eyes.
"i like your color nail polish."
y/n laughed and examined her nails,
"thank you! what an odd compliment,"
she teased.
"are you busy tonight?"
y/n shook her head,
"not at all."
"would you like to come out with me?"
y/n nodded eagerly and smiled large,
"of course."
"great. i'll pick you up at..eight?"
"sounds good."
jasper turned his attention to the front and never let his smile falter while y/n bounced with excitement in her seat next to him.
***
jasper arrived to y/n's and knocked on her door both lightly and rhythmically,
listening to the patter of her footsteps and then arrived to the front of the door.
"jasper! hey!"
she smiled and pulled her shoe on quickly,
"hey...how'd you know where i lived?"
jasper chuckled dryly,
"small town."
"ah, right."

jasper and y/n arrived to a secluded spot of five forks that was perfect for stargazing when the clouds were scarce.
and fortunately for jasper,
tonight was one of those nights.
he climbed onto the roof of his car and helped y/n join him,
laying down to stare at the sky above.
"it's beautiful,"
she whispered in amazement.
jasper turned his head to face her,
tucking a strand of hair behind her ear like he had once done.
y/n's breathing hitched at the contact and felt her body run numb.
"it is beautiful."
jasper held his hand on her cheekbone and enjoyed the heat beneath his hand.
she kissed the inside of his palm rather unexpectedly,
leaving him to stare at her in mute surprise.
"jasper?"
"hm?"
"you're...odd."
the two let out an exhale that resembled a laugh,
"so are you."
"i know. which is what would make us perfect together."
jasper nodded in agreement and let his index finger trace down her cheek as a whole.
"it would."
y/n relaxed at the feeling of his caressing and realized just how peaceful it was out here.
how calming it was with jasper.
and as the two continued to gaze into each other's eyes with no care in the world,
the world came to a stop.
there was peace and quiet.
everything they had ever wished for.
