y/n trudged through the door with a pulsating ache in her feet,
making her wince with each new step.
the house was dark,
and it wasn't until she looked at her watch that she realized just how late she had returned home.
she sighed and rubbed her burning eyes,
trailing to the bedroom where embry laid.
she cracked a smile watching the consistent rise and fall of his chest,
and the sudden twitch in his muscles.
y/n admired embry and his colorful imagination,
she could only assume his dream was nothing short of vivid.
she tiptoed through the room to change out of her work clothes,
feeling the tenseness in her body now more than ever.
the bags under her eyes were enough to make her sigh loudly.
she slowly crawled into the warm and inviting bed,
feeling embry stir next to her.
"long day?"
he questioned through the sleep in his voice.
y/n nodded slowly,
on the brink of tears from the overload of stress.
"come here."
he opened his arms inviting her in,
leaving her no choice but to relax into his embrace. 
his sweltering body kept her from shivering,
and relaxed all her tight muscles.
embry ran the tips of his fingers up and down her back to soothe her,
"i'm proud of you. you've worked hard to get where you're at."
"i'm just...so tired. all the time."
"i know,"
he whispered and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.
y/n relaxed into the natural aroma of embry that clouded the air and filled her lungs.
"and i miss you."
"love, i'm not going anywhere. okay?"
she nodded and laid a soft kiss to his adam's apple.
"okay."
"get some sleep. i love you."
"i love you more."
embry smiled to himself and looked down at his exhausted girlfriend,
feeling his heart become distressed at the sight.
with all her long hours,
she was beginning to neglect herself.
her barely eating was causing her skin to lessen in color and look rather sallow.
her cheeks looked sunken in,
and her once tight grip on him was becoming less secure as the days went on.
y/n was becoming frail;
withering away,
and it was weighing on embry's heart.
he kissed the top of her head once again,
relaxing at the sounds of her easy breathing,
and let his eyes close.

the sun peered from behind the curtains in the early morning,
sending rays of light throughout the room of y/n and embry.
when the birds began to sing their songs,
embry awoke out of his slumber.
he squirmed out of y/n's loose grip and trailed downstairs where he hovered over the stove and began preparing a hearty breakfast for y/n,
though stealing a few bites here and there.
he hummed to himself,
danced around playfully,
and was soon finished with the food before him.
he placed it on the tray with her favorite choice of drink,
then trailed back upstairs where she laid peacefully.
embry's heart stuttered at the sight of her.
her muscles were as relaxed as he had ever known them to be,
her skin nearly glowing in the bask of the sunlight.
he set the tray to the side and hovered over her,
letting his fingers brush against her cheek.
her eyes fluttered open to reveal embry,
the smile on her lips was instant.
"good morning, love."
"good morning,"
she returned with a great stretch,
ridding her body of the sleep and stress.
she sat up and looked around the golden bedroom,
where it heightened the splendor in embry's eyes.
"made you breakfast."
y/n giggled as the food was placed in front of her,
leaving embry to beam at her reaction.
"you're too good."
embry took a seat next to her and wrapped an arm around her,
relishing in the sounds of her bright laughter and the glistening in her eyes.
she offered embry a bite of the food that laid on the end of her fork and laughed when he took the bite.
"jesus, embry. almost took my whole hand off,"
she joked with a grin.
he chuckled,
"what? i love breakfast food."
y/n giggled and returned to the fruit before her.
embry gazed at her morning beauty,
admiring the tint to her cheeks,
the joy in her laughter,
the relaxation of her muscles.
embry felt his heart swell at the sight.
"you look good,"
he spoke suddenly and rather dreamily,
engrossed into those twinkling eyes of hers.
"thank you."
she giggled and nudged his shoulder playfully,
trying to hide the blush in her cheeks.

y/n walked out of the bathroom with steam curling from her skin.
embry turned around and smiled at y/n,
feeling the relief wash over him at the sight of her calmness.
he walked over to her and snaked an arm around her waist,
bringing her to his chest.
"you are the greatest boyfriend a girl could ever ask for,"
she spoke softly and laid a kiss to his chin.
embry chuckled,
placing a finger under her chin to lift her eyes to his.
"i'd do anything for you. remember that."
she nodded and felt the pressure from embry's lips connect with her own,
where a thick wave of enamor washed itself over her,
relieving her of every stressful thought.
her mind ran quiet as embry's lips moved with hers.
embry could feel his limbs growing numb at y/n's minty taste.
hands braided through her hair,
he pulled her as close as possible to relish in the warmth y/n offered.
there was nothing greater in this world than the fervor that pulsated through their veins.
embry pulled back and grinned at her hitched breathing,
laying his forehead to hers.
she let her fingers trail down his jawline,
then down his abdomen.
"thank you...for everything."
embry nodded and laid a kiss to her forehead.
"i love you, y/n."
"and i love you just the same."
