Abby's POV

Today is Saturday and right now I am in the tree house with the guys "Hey you go into a backyard and your Mom's pregnant" Chris said. "She's French" Teddy said and Teddy cheated "You four eyed pile of crap" I said. "A pile of crap has a thousand eyes" Teddy said "Whatever" I said. Then Gordie came in "Come on Chris deal me in" Gordie said "Do you guys know what Vern wants to tell us" Chris asked. "No" I said "No he just told me to come here" Teddy said "Same" Gordie said. Then Vern came in "Guys I need to catch my breath I ran from my house" Vern said. "I ran all the way home" We sang "Screw you guys" Vern said. "What is it" Chris asked "Do you guys want to go see a dead body" Vern said and we looked at him "What" I asked. "Well I was under the porch and Billy and Charlie were talking about Ray Brower and how he is at the old hollow road" Vern said. "The train must have hit him" Gordie said "Ya he must have been walking and the train came and all smacko" I said. "Guys if we find him we can get our pictures in the paper" Chris said "Ya we can be heros" Teddy said. "Tell your folks were gonna sleep in Verns back feild and Vern tell your folks that you're spending the night at Teddys" I said. "Okay let's get our stuff" Gordie said and we all went home and Darry was out front. "Darry where is my duffel bag" I asked "Why" Darry asked "I'm going to spend the night with the guys" I said. "It's in the hall closet" Darry said and I packed my bag. "Where are you going" Soda asked "I'm going to spend the night with the guys" I said. I walked outside when I saw Chris and Gordie so we walked behind the cafe "Guys I got something" Chris said. "What" I asked and Chris showed us a gun and I took it. "Where did you get it" Gordie asked "Eyeball's room" Chris said "Is it loaded" I asked. "No who do you think I am" Chris said and I shot a garbage can "Run" We yelled. We ran around the corner "Awesome" Gordie said "You knew it was loaded" I said. "Abby I didn't know it was loaded" Chris said "Do you swear" I asked. "Ya I swear" Chris said "Skin it" I said and we skined it when we saw Ace and Eyeball. Ace took Gordie's hat that his brother gave him "My brother gave me that" Gordie said. "Now you're giving it to me" Ace said "You're a butt Merrill" Chris said "Your brothers not really polite Eyeball" Ace said. "Now Christopher I knew you didn't mean to insult my friend" Eyeball said. "I knew he didn't mean to insult me that's why I'm giving him a chance to take it back" Ace said. Ace held Chris to the ground "Let him go" Gordie said "Take it back" Ace said and he held a cigarette to Chris eye. "Okay I take it back" Chris said and Ace hit me upside the head "Good now I feel a whole lot better" Ace said. Eyeball chuckled "See you later girls" Eyeball said and they left and we found the guys. "Hey guys" Teddy said and we got to the train tracks "Come on" Chris said. "Vern what's in your pocket" I asked "A comb so we look good for TV" Vern said. "So how long is the walk to old hollow road" I asked "Thirty five miles" Chris said. "Maybe we should hitch hike" Vern said "No way that's boring" I said. "We can take the train up to the hollow church then walk the rest of the way" Vern said. "Did your Mother ever had any kids that lived" Teddy asked "What" Vern asked "Never mind" Teddy said. I scared Vern "Two for flinching" I said and I punched Vern in the arm two times. We were walking on the train tracks and I was getting hungry "Guys I'm hungry" I asked. "Did anyone bring anything" Chris asked "No Teddy" Gordie asked. "No and why didn't Vern bring any food it was his idea" Teddy said. "What am I supposed to do think of everything I brought the comb" Vern said. "Good you brought a comb but you dont have any hair" Teddy said "Guys let's see how much money we have" Chris said. We sat on the tracks and we gave Gordie our money "Good a dollar from Abby sixty cents from Teddy and another dollar from Chris and seven cents from Vern" Gordie said. "Really only seven cents" Chris said "I couldn't find my pennies" Vern said. "Okay I will go to the shop when we get to the junkyard" Gordie said and a train was coming. "Train coming" I said and we got off the tracks but Teddy stayed. "Teddy get off" Chris said "Train dodge" Teddy said. "Get off the tracks Teddy your crazy" I said "Just like the beach at Norway" Teddy said. The train was coming and the whistle was getting louder. I had enough so me and Chris dragged him off the tracks "You guys are idiots I could have dodged that" Teddy yelled. "You could have gotten yourself killed" I said "We were just trying to save your life man" Chris said. We walked to the junkyard "We have about twenty minutes before Chooper comes" Gordie said. "Chooper sick butts" Teddy said "What will we do if Chooper comes" Vern asked. "We leave you for dead" Teddy said "Shut up" I said and we jumped the fence. I walked with Chris while the boys found a spot to sit "Teddys crazy" I said. "Ya he wont even live to be thirty" Chris said "Remember that time you saved him in the tree" I asked. "Ya I dream about that like I dont catch him" Chris said "But you never miss" I said. We sat with the boys "Gordie go get the food" Vern said. "Nah we all should go" Gordie said "Guys we will flip a coin" Chris said. I got us nickels "Let's flip and who ever is the odd one out gets the food" Chris said. They all flipped heads but I flipped tails "Go get the food Abby" Teddy said. I went to the shop and I went inside "Are you the Curtis kid" Worker asked. "Yes sir" I said "Your parents were good people" Worker said and I got some food. "Ya they were" I said "Your older brother Darry was a good football player" Worker said. "He still is a good football player" I said "Do you play football" Worker asked. "Sometimes with Darry and the gang" I said "Okay that is two dollars" Worker said. I went to the junkyard and I went to where we were sitting but they weren't there. I saw them jumping the fence and I saw Milo "You kid come here" Milo said. "Abby come on" Teddy yelled and I ran towards the fence "Cooper sick'em boy" Milo yelled. Now Milo said Cooper sick'em boy but what I heard was Chooper sick butts. "Run Abby" Chris yelled and I jumped the fence "That's Chooper" I asked. Chooper was my first life lesson for mith and reality and Chooper was a tiny golden retriever. "Sick butts" Teddy said laughing and Milo came to the fence "You kids stop teasing that dog" Milo said. "So" Chris said "I know you Duchamp psycho" Milo said and we went silent. "What did you call me" Teddy asked "I know who you are your Teddy Duchamp your Fathers a psycho because he almost burnt your ear off" Milo said. "You call my Dad a psycho and I'll kill you" Teddy said "Psycho" Milo said. Teddy jumped on the fence "I'm going to kill you" Teddy yelled and we got Teddy off the fence. "Your a psycho just like your old man" Milo said "Shut up" I said "I know all you guys so I will be calling all your parents except for the psycho" Milo said. Teddy jumped on the fence "I'm gonna rip your head off" Teddy yelled and we pulled him off the fence. We walked away from the junkyard "He talked about my old man" Teddy said crying. I dont know how Teddy can care so much about his Father who almost killed him. "Why do you care what he says about your old man" I said "Whatever is between you and your old man he can't change that" Chris said. I walked with Chris and Gordie "Do you guys think I'm weird" Gordie asked "Ya definitely" I said. "No guys seriously" Gordie said and we stopped walking "Ya but so what everybody's weird" Chris said. "Next year we will be in high school" I said "Ya and we will be split up" Chris said "Why would that happen" Gordie asked. "Gordie your smarter then us and your going to be in the challenging classes while me, Abby, Vern and Teddy will be in the extra help classes" Chris said. "Gordie your going to meet some smarter people" I said "I'm staying with you guys" Gordie said. "Gordie your so smart and you shouldn't be in the extra help classes with us" I said. "Gordie your an amazing writer and you cant give up" Chris said. "Suck writing" Gordie said "Gordie we want you to do amazing at writing" I said. "Come on guys" Vern yelled "By the time we get there the kid wont even be dead anymore" Teddy said. I ate a candy bar when we came to some more train tracks that was above water. "What will we do if the next train comes" Vern asked "We jump" Teddy said. "Teddy it's like a hundred feet" I said "We can walk down and around" Chris said. "That's half way across the state so I'm crossing here and you guys can meet me on the other side" Teddy said. "Gordie what should we do" I asked "Walk across the tracks" Gordie said. I walked with Gordie and Vern while the others were in front of us. Vern fell "I lost the comb" Vern said "Forget it Vern" I said and I heard a whistle. "Train" Gordie yelled "Oh crap" Vern said "Get up Vern" Gordie said. "Run guys" Chris yelled and we ran and we jumped on the other side of the tracks. Teddy and Chris helped us up "Well now we know when the next train was due" Teddy said. We were walking when we came to a pond "It doesn't look that deep" Chris said and we fell in. "Well this feels deep" Teddy said "Shut up Teddy" Vern said and we started wrestling. I saw something on Verns neck "Vern theres something on your neck" I said. It was a leech "Leeches" Teddy yelled and we took our clothes off "Chris help" I said. Chris got them off my back and we got them off but Gordie looked worried. "Oh crap" Gordie said "What" Teddy asked and Gordie fainted "Gordie" Chris yelled. We went over to Gordie "Maybe he is dead" Vern said. "He's not dead he just fainted" Teddy said "I never knew anyone who fainted" Vern said. "Maybe they made a bad mistake and looked at your face" Teddy said "Shut up Teddy" I said. "Gordie you okay" Chris asked "Ya I'm good" Gordie said and we got dressed and we kept walking. We set up camp "Drag races are cool but there the same thing everytime" Gordie said "Agree" I said. "Doesn't your brother Sodapop love drag races" Teddy asked "Ya him and Steve" I said. We cooked hot dogs "Vern yours looks burnt" I said and his fell in the fire. "What am I suppose to eat" Vern said "You could cook your feet" Teddy said and we ate our hot dogs. We sat around the fire "Nothing like a smoke after a meal" Chris said. "Ya" I said "I save these moments" Teddy said and we started laughing. "What did I say" Teddy said "Vern did you bring the radio" Gordei said. None of us mentioned Ray Brower but we were all thinking of him "Guys I'm going to bed" I said and we fell asleep. We woke up to a noise "What was that" I asked "The dead kids ghost" Teddy said. "Dont say that" Vern said "We should take watch so nothing kills us" Gordie said. "Give me the gun" Teddy said and Chris gave him the gun. "Corporal Teddy Dechamp is on watch" Teddy said "Shut up Teddy" Chris said and Teddy sang a song. "Teddy say one more word and I will make you shut up" I said and I feel asleep but I had a nightmare.

I am eleven years old at home with my brothers when the phone rang "Guys" Darry said "Ya" I said. "Mom and Dad wont be coming home" Darry said "Why" Soda asked. "They were hit by a train" Darry said "Oh" Pony said and we all cried that night.

I woke up and Chris was by the fire and he looked at me "You okay because you were dreaming" Chris asked. Chris put his hand on my shoulder "It was about my parents" I said. We sat by a tree "What was it" Chris asked "The day they died" I said. I was thinking of memorys of my parents "I miss them so much" I said. "Abby if you ever need to talk about anything we are here for you" Chris said. "Thanks" I said "Remember at school with the milk money" Chris said. "Ya and a teacher stole it from you" I said "Just think if anyone would believe the brother to Eyeball Chambers" Chris asked. "No but me, Gordie, Vern and Teddy told the principal that she took it but he didn't believe us" I said. "Do you think that the teacher would have taken the money from anyone else" Chris said "She wouldn't have and I dont like that teacher" I said. Chris started crying "I just want to go somewhere were nobody knows who I am" Chris said and I hugged him. "Everytime I go somewhere for food or cigarettes a worker is watching me like I would steal something" I said. "You would never steal" Chris said "Ya but people know I hang out with Dally so they all think I will steal" I said. "Try to get some sleep okay" Chris said and I got in my sleeping bag and I fell asleep. The next morning we walked until we got to the hollow road "Teddy is this it" I asked "Yep" Teddy said. "Ray must be around here somewhere" Vern said "Let's get looking" Gordie said. I saw Ray Brower "Guys I see him" I said and the guys came over to me. I went down the hill with Chris and we stared at Ray Brower. Ray Brower wasn't sleeping the kid was dead "He's really dead" Teddy said. "What do you guys know" Ace said and we looked at him "It's my little brother" Eyeball said. "Theres five us of Eyeball" Teddy said then the other Cobras came down the hill. "Vern you were under the porch" Billy said and Vern ran into the woods. "We found him so we got dibs and you guys came in a car that's not fair" Chris said. "That's not fair we got dibs" Eyeball said "Besides me and Billy found him first" Charlie said. "Vern said that you guys stole the soc car and found him" Teddy said "Shut up Teddy" I said. Billy came down the hill "Your dead Duchamp" Billy said "Hold it" Ace said. Ace looked at us "Well Chambers you guys have two choices so how about you guys leave and we take the body or you stay and we beat the crap out of you guys and we take the body" Ace said. "Why not you go home and go kill your Mother" Chris said and Ace held out a switchblade. "Your dead" Ace said "Chris let's run he has a knife" Teddy said and Teddy ran into the woods. "There not taking him" Chris said and I looked at Gordie "Ace" Eyeball said. "Your going to have to kill me Ace" Chris said "No problem" Ace said. Gordie shot the gun into the air and we looked at him "Your not taking him" Gordie said. "Come on Lachance give me the gun" Ace said "Dont move" Gordie said. "What are you going to do shoot us all" Ace said "No just you" Gordie said. "You must have some of your brothers good ideas" Ace said. "Suck it" Gordie said and he loaded the gun and the Cobras left "Suck it were did you hear that" I asked. "You and Chris" Gordie said and the guys came back "Guys this isn't right" Teddy said. "Your right were getting famous over a dead kid our age" I said. "Ya let's call him into the cops" Chris said and we put a blanket over Ray Brower and we went back to town. We walked all through the night and made it back to Castle Rock the next morning around four thirty. We went to the main road of Castle Rock and we stopped "See you guys tomorrow" Vern said. "I got to go before my Mother calls the cops" Teddy said and he ran to his house. "I got to go" Gordie said and he left were it was just me and Chris. "I'm never going to get out of this town Abby" Chris said "You can do whatever you want Chris" I said. "Thats true" Chris said "I got to go but I'll see you tomorrow" I said. "See you tomorrow" Chris said and I walked home and Darry was making breakfast. I went to my room and I got in bed and a couple of minutes later I fell asleep.
