Louis

I bet I can guess what's on your mind right now..

I read the text from Louis as soon as I sat at my desk. I had to get to work a little earlier than normal this morning because of a parent-teacher meeting.

The student I drove home a few weeks ago, Valerie, didn't show up for a full week and had no doctors note so I decided to meet with her parents. After not being able to provide transportation for their child after school then not succeeding in bringing her to school, I felt like I needed to step in.

I was on a high last night after Louis opened up to me. His story wasn't all rose petals and sugar plums but it was his story, and I am glad that I was trusted enough to hear it. This morning put a damper on my mood though.

Valerie's situation was eerily similar to the one I heard last night. Her parents, this morning, seemed detached from emotion when it came to Valerie and I couldn't help but feel her pain in my heart.

I had to stop myself multiple times from cursing out her parents, talking some sense into them. Unfortunately though, there was no way I could've done that because neither parent knew sign language. That's right, no sign language. In a home where a child is slowly losing her hearing.

After the meeting, I reached out to the principal for options concerning Valerie and her home life. Principal Feldman informed me that we couldn't intervene until there was serious neglect or physical abuse which I felt was absolutely ridiculous. I mean wouldn't you consider not caring for your child to be serious neglect?

All I can do now is make Valeries school life as good as it can be. 'Be uplifting and motivational' Principal Feldman told me, as if I don't try to be that kind of teacher to all my students.

Trying to pull my mind away from that situation for just a little while, I responded to Louis' text.

Harry

Well I should tell you that I'm at work and can't be texting you during school hours, but I'm curious about what you will say so I'll allow it. x

I could practically feel Louis rolling his eyes at my text but I couldn't help but smile at that thought.

Louis

I bet you're thinking about our almost kiss last night. And how you want another chance to make that kiss happen tonight...

At your house

With no interruptions

I blushed at the series of texts coming in and had to bite my lip to suppress the grin that was threatening to break out on my face.

Harry

I'm appalled that you think I would fantasise those situations while at work Tomlinson! But, I would gladly have you over tonight. x

Although I would miss hanging out with Oli too

Obviously.

I felt proud of my sassy remarks and decided to turn my phone off until lunch since the students were starting to file into my classroom. I felt re energised after our short but flirty conversation and was ready for the rest of the school day.
