The piano keys staring at me as I stare back at them gathering
dust by my window
Trying to remember a melody I composed for a lost cause.
The notes buried deep in my subconscious trying to dig their way out
demanding the lullaby be written with

Discarding the staleness of the wasted effort from the past
the long-forgotten ambition and the memories attached
Naivety evolved into incredulity and so must the tune.
