Today's poetic form is the Japanese "Waka". Similar to the Tanka, it has a syllable pattern of 5-7-5-7-7 but they differ in structure and in the way the lines are grouped. More about it here:

Trying to be profound,
but I spent all of my words,
I create new ones
not quite with the same appeal.
Poetically stunted.
