in the times where my world was struck by the earthquake of circumstance,
I smiled my biggest smile
in the times where my beloved constants were traversing beside me for the last time,
I smiled my biggest smile
in the times where fear evolved into something monstrous, eating up every remnant of hope,
I smiled my biggest smile
in the times where the truth was staring me down, ready to pounce like a cat with a mouse,
I smiled my biggest smile
And in all those times, I smiled for I knew, that I was being built up, perhaps built anew
because -like she always said- "life is sweet like bitter almonds".

I decided to try something new with the italics lol, I kind of like the look of it!
and also this is a saying my great-grandma used a lot -roughly translated in english- and I quite like it because bitter almonds are still really sweet (probably sweeter than actual almonds) but with a touch of bitterness and she always thought that life is also a bit that way as well :)
