Is it a sign of strength to exist with an intrinsic fragility?
For its presence is constantly felt and constantly fought,
building immunity to everything that can awaken it.
Tirelessly protected by a shield of false reassurance,
but there is always a minuscule aperture in the design
absorbing the unnoticed triggers and secretly cultivating them.
Until all the effort, struggle and labour turn into nothingness.
And then it takes over your body like being possesed by fiends
but it doesn't want to occupy your soul like they seek to.
It tries to escape through the tear ducts of sad your eyes,
through the voice box in your sore neck and through your
numb, shock-stricken limbs.
Just like an untameable beast held in captivity for years
finally seizing the opportunity of freedom, no matter the havoc.
But it will never be free like the demons that come and go,
or perhaps it is a demon seeking liberation from you
like you from it.
Alas, there's only so much it can do before its eventual return
to the familiar and protected nest inside of your soul.
And as you will patch the past tear that allowed it to escape
another one will be forming, continuing the infection.
But worry not,
for it is a sign of strenght to exist with an intrinsic fragility.
