sometimes I crave silence as much as I crave music
fiercely longing for a few moments of absolute nothingness
only the sound of static and the steadiness of heartbeats
the constant tune of breathing, maybe even the lingering buzz
of commotion.
to empty my head of resurgent thoughts signaling trouble
a battle for serenity, seldom won by brain and heart
and yet persistent nonetheless, yearning for tranquility
an unattainable task.
