“Be serious, Elaine.”
Elaine took a second before answering.
“I am your best friend and I love you, but…
Why are you such an asshole?”
“What?”
“He sounds like a dream,” Elaine half yelled at her.
Gina smiled and sipped her coffee.
“You bitch,” Elaine said. She knew that look on her friend’s face.
“You really like him.”
Gina nodded.
“I do. Very much, but there is a problem.”
“Oh for fuck sake,” Elaine said, throwing her arms in the air.
“He is 5 years younger than I am,” Gina said, seriously.
Elaine took the flask again and drank another stiff one.
“Is he good looking?”
“Very much.”
“And he is a gentleman?”
Gina nodded.
“Very much so.”
“And he seems to be great father?” Elaine continued.
Gina simply nodded.
“And obviously he is a caring and giving person, from the story you told me of Lisa?”
Again, Gina simply nodded.
“And, and this is the most important thing of all. And I want you to think about this before you answer.
He likes you?”
Gina smiled.
“I think he does.”
“And Brandon and Melissa?”
“He wants to meet the kids. He thinks Tyla will get along great with them. She is such a sweetheart,” Gina said, smiling.
Elaine was shaking her head.
“What?” Gina snapped.
“Does he want to see you again?” Elaine asked, quickly.
Gina stood up and went to the coffee pot. She silently poured another coffee and leaned against the kitchen sink, sipping her coffee.
