Two days turned into three days and then four days.

“It is just the way these things go,” Dylan tried to explain to Gina.

“I fixed the issue in Edmonton and then I had to fly to Washington for a meeting and now I am in Vancouver.”

“So when do you expect to be back?” She asked, trying to sound positive.

Dylan took a deep breath.

“I am hoping the issue here is not that serious. I have already talked to head office and told them I want off the road for a while.”

“Really?” Gina said excitedly.

“Yes,” Dylan said softly.

“I want to spend time with you and I want our kids to get to know each other better.”

There was a moments silence.

“Two days and then I promise I will be back.”

“Okay, if I have to wait two days,” Gina said pouting.

“Please don't be any longer. I really need to talk to you.”

“We can talk now.”

“No. I want to be face to face with you,” Gina said excitedly.

“Okay,” Dylan said.

“I have to go, sweetie. I have to get to work.”

“Okay. Bye.”

Two days later Gina was at work. It was a busy night and they were a server short, so Gina was helping in the restaurant as well as hosting.

She had just sat a party of four when Tammy came to her.

“There’s a call for you, boss.”

“Did you take a message?”

Tammy smiled.

“No, I think you might want to take this one. Its lover boy.”

Gina smiled and went to her office.

She looked in the mirror and fluffed her hair.

“What am I doing?” she asked herself.

“He is on the phone.”

She took a deep breath and picked up the receiver.

“Gina here.”

“Hey beautiful.”

A huge smile came to her face.

“Hey Dylan. Where are you?”

“Hello to you too,” he said jokingly.

“I’m sorry. I have just missed you so much.”

“That is okay,” he said.

“I am on my way from the airport.”

“You’re back?” Gina squealed.

“I am. I should be at the hotel in a half hour or so. I have some calls to make, but that should only take an hour. I was wondering if you might like to get together for a drink or something?”

“Ohhhhh,” Gina moaned, stomping her foot.

“I am going to be late tonight. We are short staffed and busier than hell. We had a tour pop in unexpectedly and the place is packed, with a line up waiting.”

“So what time will you be done, do you think?” Dylan asked.

“I don't know, hun.” She stomped her foot again.

Dylan laughed.

“Its okay. Look, call me when you are done and we will go from there. I am in my usual room. You remember the number?”

“Four one two,” Gina said quickly.

Dylan laughed.

“You do remember. So I will see you later?”

“Okay.  Oh, is Tyla with you?”

Dylan hesitated.

“No she is still with her Aunt Jamie. I came directly here. I will fly her down later.”

Gina was surprised, but not upset.

“Melissa will be disappointed.”

“Sorry. I just couldn't wait to see you.”

Gina smiled.

“Okay, I will call you at the hotel.”

A knock came to Gina’s door.

Tammy looked inside.

“Sorry boss, but we need you.”

“I have to go,” Gina said sadly.

“Okay, talk to you soon. And don't forget to call.”

“I won’t. Bye.”

Gina hung up the phone. She stared at it for a second, wondering why Dylan was so insistent about her calling, but she dismissed it.

“Don’t be so suspicious, Gina,” she said to herself. “Maybe he is just planning a surprise for you.”
