Gina asked Sonja if she had seen Melissa.

“She is at table nine talking to the lady there,” Sonja answered.

“Thanks,” Gina said, as she headed into the restaurant from the kitchen. She saw Melissa standing near the table talking to the woman sitting there.

“Good afternoon,” Gina said cheerfully as she approached the table.

“I hope my daughter hasn't been bothering you.”

The woman smiled and shook her head.

“Not in the least. She has been an absolute joy to talk to. Such an intelligent young girl.”

Gina smiled and kissed Melissa on top of her head.
“I am proud of her.”

“Well you should be. I must say I found it rather surprising to see her here in the restaurant; helping out, I mean.”

“Melissa has been doing this for a couple years now,” Gina said.

“I like it. It is a lot of fun and I get to meet nice people like you,” Melissa added, speaking to the woman.

“Well the pleasure has been all mine,” the woman said, offering her hand to Melissa.

Melissa politely shook the woman’s hand.

“Say good bye to the woman now Melissa,” Gina told her, “ Chef has your burger ready in the kitchen.”

Melissa smiled.

“Bye,” she said as she quickly headed for the kitchen.

Gina spoke to the woman again.

“Again, I apologize if Melissa was a bother.”

“Not at all,” the woman said.

“It was very unique. Like this restaurant.”

“Well thank you.”

Gina noticed the empty plate.

“Are you finished?”

“Yes,” the woman said quickly.

“It was delicious. The steak was perfect and the fixings were wonderful.”

Gina picked up the plate, dirty utensils and the napkin.

“Would you like some dessert?”

“What would you recommend?”

“Well we have some fresh, home made apple pies that just came out of the oven,” Gina suggested.

“Sounds fattening. With ice cream?”

“How else,” Gina added.
