Love at First Letter

Chapter 17

My dearest Hazel,

I miss you so much. It gets lognely aroung the house when I come home. I miss your wild imagination and I even miss those girly movies you would make us watch. But truthfully, I didn't mind them as long as we were all together. I know you are upset about what happened but you can't ignore all things military your whole life. It's in your blood Hazel. You can run and hide but you never were very good at that game. Your giggles would always betray you.

The entire family misses you, and I'm not just talking about blood relatives. We all miss you. I hope that sometimes soon, preferably when I'm on leave, that you come and visit us. You don't have to see anyone else if you choose not to. I won't make you.

I am so proud of you. Your first published book and it's a best seller. Wh would have thought that my niece would be a best selling author. Who am I kidding, we all knew it. I'm pretty sure everyone on base has a copy of it and they all love it. I'm sure your paretns would be just as proud, if not more.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Your Uncle

P.S. I love you so much my beautiful niece. You're looking so much more like your mother every day.

P.P.S. That's a good thing.

When I woke up I wasn't expecting to see Sarah bouncing on my bed like a little toddler on Christmas morning. SHe had a wide smile on her face and she was still in her pajamas. I cast a glance towrads the clock and graoned when I realized she woke up me a whole hour before I need to be awake. "Spill." were the first words she said to me.

I yawned and stretched before sitting up. "What are you talking about?"

Sarah looked at me incrediously, "You know exactly what I'm talking about." When I didn't say anything she groaned. "You and Brett dumb ass, what happened yesterday?"

"You paid for their flight and their hotel room, why would you do that?" I asked trying to change the subject but didn't quite succeed.

"I thought you would like to meet the love of your life face to face. And I didn't really want to wait until Georgia to meet him either. He's a catch though."

"He is not the love of my life." I said to her, "At least not yet," I said even quieter but she seemed to hear it loud and clear anyways. She squealed like she was a teenage girl and not a sophisticated adult.

"Tell me." She said and I did. I told her everything about yesterday. She soaked up all the information like a sponge and seemed to not be able to keep the smile off of her face.

To say I was overwhelmed when I stepped out onto the stage would be a complete understatement. THere were rows upon rows filled with people. I was thankful that Logan was a part of this panel as well. He was seated to my left while the interviewer was on my right and the other four authors were further down on the panel.

"So, Hazel and Logan, can you tell us anything about your new book coming soon?" The interviewer, Amy, started off with.

"There's nothing to really tell you. It's stil in the early stages of development." Logan said to her and I suppressed the urge to laugh. He was being generous saying that considering we had nothing to offer them at all; no title, no characters, no plot, nothing.
